Im going to try give you as much variation of jobs between now and xmas.
We are finishing off the Hardie V L in sail cloth on this 6mtr build.
We get ours from Brick Services in Newcastle and they will ship it to you at a good price.
We are using the Paslode coil nailer to fit and are using the 35mm ring cur nails in it.
We are still waiting on the metal for the rear of the build to finish, but should be com plate this week.

What brilliant videos you make! Btw Cedral’s advice for fitting a board below a window is to not fix the last-but-one board until you’ve cut the last one to size - this gives you the tolerance you need to get round the problem with the t&g.

The best way I have found to deal with dust is a pressure bottle, the flexible spray nozzles from CNC machines (they are like £10 on ebay/amazon). The fine spray keeps the dust down to almost nothing, the water cools the blade and they last *much* longer. There is no electrical risk with a battery-powered angle grinder and unlike blowing the dust onto the neighbours is not actually illegal.

I use this product a lot. I run a cement fibre blade in my 7.1/4 circular saw. Not sure if you can get them in the uk though. You can get a vacuum switch so the vacuum kicks in when the saw is on and it runs for ten seconds once you stop the saw, it’s nasty stuff. Great channel.

Good vids mate new subscriber to the channel. I’ve cut this stuff before. I used a festool plunge saw with a concrete type blade with extraction. No dust and cuts it easy. Just a thought… Keep it up great work

Yay! First up! My room is clad with Cedral, a very similar product. I thought the dedicated blade was an essential purchase and I highly recommend it. The shocker was the cumulative cost of the fittings, not the boards themselves. Things like colour match corner trims, the colour matched screws and the stainless vent trims etc. There are "no name" copies of the Cedral trims out there that are worth searching out. They may well be compatible with Hardie and are considerably cheaper. I'm 5 years down the line with mine and I can't tell which are the branded ones and which aren't. One big difference between Hardie and Cedral is the corner trims. I have to say that the Cedral corner trims are much fiddlier to fit but result in a neater more "integrated" finish.

Cutting out around window cills the grinder is a good way to cut it as its neat, but by far the best way to cut it for 90 degree cuts is to use the guillotine, not the standard type guillotine but the type where it cuts through the whole width of the board at once. I've modified mine so it cuts angled cuts also for gable ends, 100% dust free, no battery, mounted it onto a swivel base so it clips onto my dewalt leg stand, works a treat

Great vid, very helpful seeing it used in reality! Is there meant to be a ventilated gap over J trim detail below the window cill that gives a continuous air gap?

Hi Liam, have you ever used a scribe and Edge of carpenter's square to cut it? I did my entire build cutting the VL boards that way and it worked perfectly. I found the blades did not work for me. Hardie also recommend this method because it has zero dust. I highly recommend it I also used a brand new 50mm chisel (sharp) to make the sloped cuts for the sides for the sloped roof and it worked perfectly

Great video guys! How does the price using Hardie compare to wood or block build? I'm guessing the weight is less compared to block or wood so wouldn't need a full concrete base? Cheers, Keith

Have you, or anyone, had any trouble with the tongue and grove being tight on the vl plank and it won’t sit properly because of the tolerance between the tongue and the batten?
@thegardenroomguru
@thegardenroomguru 3 ай бұрын
Yes mate, its a bugger, cut an off cut of Hardie, take off the top lip, then use the off cut, sit it on the piece you are trying to fit, and hammer it down. Some times you need to prize the roofing battens offa bit also

@@thegardenroomguru I have not used the lap style, so I understand what you mean. However, I wonder if you took a piece of the opposite side and started your cut from a squared edge, then the edge would not break. Just a thought. You may be completely correct and there are no possible ways other than what you are doing. I hung up my apron after 38 years and now just watch you guys work here on youtube.
