KZfaq has been on a kick of recommending videos that involve light bulbs and water. Yesterday I saw a random video of someone who drilled a hole in an incandescent and filled it with water and powered it on. Filament tungsten turned blue when it burned up in the water.

Let's see...I can't remember my comment,but if I did,I'd say there was formaldehyde involved in the making of particle board. Not to worry though- the grand Asian remix in the back ground,well that was something in itself... Good video tho! As an afterthought I'd probably not be lending you my waterpump again..

Ultrasonic cleaner

This is a project for people who might not have the budget for an ultrasonic cleaner. But still, it's an interesting idea to try out. Thumbs up for the idea. :)

So, assuming you have gotten everything else right so that it may once again give off light... you have created a bulb that will emit crazy UV rays! Because essentially you didn't clean it, you stripped the protective phosphor coating.
@nathanalaneller3 жыл бұрын
Theirs no electronics in the bulb, I just put the parts back to together for a thumbnail. Besides, I just wanted to make a glass bubbler. :)

Uuh no. The glass still doesn't transmit UV even after the phosphor is washed off, because the phosphor doesn't absorb 100% of the UV, the glass has to block the rest.

I get it it’s for decorations, but you still could’ve exposed yourself to many toxic chemicals. Although they are in trace amounts, it is still highly toxic for the body to expose yourself to this. And you completely defeated the purpose of a CFL they’re called fluorescent lighting because the phosphor inside of it converts UV light into seeable light. So, by removing the phosphor around it which makes it white you end up defeating the entire purpose of having a CFL. Now you’re just going to admit UV light with that, but you remove the chemicals anyways and if you plug this in and you turn it on it will most likely melt, burn, or shatter the glass shattering it most likely I haven’t tried this for myself I don’t want to find out that part may be wrong I’m not gonna find out if it will shatter.

Agree, silica dust from the glass cutting and mercury vapor exposure, even if it's a little tinny ball.

Harmful UV light won't pass through the regular glass of the bulb even IF he could get it to work. The bulb would need to be made of special "Woods" glass if UV were to pass through it. As far as the Mercury vapor inside the bulb, it's such a tiny amount that unless you were purposely huffing it the instant the end was cut off, it will simply dissipate in the air and do no harm to you. As far as the phosphorescent powder goes, just wear a respirator and don't intentionally breathe it in, and wash your hands when you're finished. NO harm done.

Might want to look up glass properties. 60% of UV-A travels thru lead free and soda lime.@@davelowets

The only way to light it up is to put an LED strip or wire in it. I took out the electronics.

No, I did it in a confined glove box. Which is a transparent plastic or metal toter with holes & gloves in the side to prevent nasty fumes from escaping. And as for the contaminated sand & water, I'm still trying to find someone professional to dispose or recycle it for me. Have any Ideas?
