Step by step how to video on cleaning dirty, grimy, oily and smelly Lego sets. I bought $1700 worth of used retired Lego Star Wars sets and they were covered in oily residue from cigarette smoke. In this video I go through and explain the best way to clean your Lego and get rid of any unwanted smell and dirt.

The way I clean mine when they get dirty like that is I go ahead and take them apart, put them in a mesh laundry bag(one made for delegate/lingerie so the mesh is small enough to keep the little pieces inside), and pop it in the dishwasher on half cycle. 20 minutes later shiny clean pieces. I've done it the way you did before but it doesn't get the dirt out of inside or in-between the parts not 100%. I found that out when I washed a couple just to have clean in storage.

And took apart to save space in storage. But you also did a lot more soaking than I did

I open up all the spaces and use the brush in there. I feel like Lego is pretty air tight so dirt and stuff doesn’t get underneath/ in betweeen but could be wrong.
