Intake valve cleaning cost a lot if you take your car to the dealership, they have to disassemble the engine or if they have sand blaster to clean them, but either ways, the have to remove intake manifold to get access to the intake valves for direct and indirect engines, so it will take time and cost, in todays video i will show you how to clean it without removing anything
Even this is indirect injection engine, but still too much carbon buildup on the intake valve building up because, i drive the car aggressively sometime and the oil vapor passing from PCV valve to intake throttle

this is a very common problem with indirect fuel injectors, because the fuel injectors located on top of the piston meaning the fuel injectors no longer washing the intake valves

I wish I watched this amazing tutorial before I used the carb Cleaner on my rough idling engine last week. I sprayed through the throttle, black stuff came out, the engine was NOT running. I waited 15 minutes, then started the engine, was rough first minute, turned perfect after, I think I was lucky. The video instructions make more sense. Next time, thank you master Ali

Excellent demonstration with before and after pictures, nicely done! Something else to consider when purchasing any Direct Injection vehicle is installing a "catch can" to prevent most of the carbon buildup on intake valves.

carbon builds up in both MPI and GDI but with GDI it's far greater problem. It builds up on MPIs due to poor quality fuel, poor combustion or mixture etc. one of the main things is that the high compression of a GDI causes much higher cylinder head temperatures. The carbon not only applies in a greater volume but is then "baked" on. If you had GDI carbon buildup to the same amount of carbon on an MPI it would be much more treatable and more likely to dissolve in a safe way on MPI, Any cleaner or additive isn't going to go past the intake valve on GDI. The baking of carbon on GDIs can cause chunks of carbon to dislodge that are large enough to cause damage to the cylinder, valves, turbocharger or go through to the catalyst and burn up fierce. @@sansarkawt3351

Hey! Tried your method today. That is awesome and really working! I bought a used car, no history about how previous owner used it. (My thoughts are home-shop/work-home) It has a broken and clogged up PCV valve, which we changed. But the engine still got a rattling noise. It's gone now! It's working much quieter. I do believe that was gunk around valves and pistons which is gone by now! So thanks to you a lot! PS By the way, came here after Scotty's of ChrisFix comment section. What if I see some engine oil on the valves along with carbon build up? My car has misfire issue. I tried to solve by changing injectors, plugs and some other tweaks but nothing helped. cylinder 3 has more misfires than others and it has more oil on the intake valve. So you think this is the main cause of the misfires? And this oil means stem seals needs to be change?

Can I use this same product on my 2014 elantra gt 2014? I was thinking on CRC products but based on different videos on KZfaq this one shows way better results!! I'm starting to suspect that this might be my issue on my GDI, some major Carbon build up on my valves. I changed my plugs and plug wires, cleaned the throttle body out and it still runs a bit rough on/off during idle. Feels like the torque power isn't there when accelerating.

it wont hydrolock, even if you think you have hydrolocked the engines, take out the sparkplugs and crank the engine to take out excess liquid

No, bad idea, it will wash the cylinder wall as well, and all the dirt will gets in to the oil instead burring and comes out of the tailpipe

I bought a cheap used car years ago, non gdi. The previous owner's mechanic poked, prodded and swapped everything trying to solve the #4 misfire it had, 3.8l ford. Condemned the motor It was extreme carbon build up from a blocked PCV. Did this very thing, this is an old trick actually

HI Ali, my car has a maf before the throttle body and a map on top of the intake manifolf after the throttle body. The pcv valve connected to intake manifold is close to the map sensor. Will this damage the map sensor, if i use the pcv valve outlet in the intake?

My vehicle has a similar setup, my assumption on this based on how the PCV and intake works is that what your spraying into the manifold is being ingested by the engine due to the the crank case pushing air through the PCV into the manifold and the manifold taking in air from the throttle body. Seems like the direction of travel would be away from the sensors.

If you are going to remove intake manifold, you can use a brush and carb cleaner to clean the valves. Work only on closed vlaves, then suck it with paper towel or someting. Then turn the engine by hand and work on other valves.

If your car is turbo, not a good idea to spray carb cleaner, use turbo cleaner instead, you can use brake vacuum line as well instead of pcv valve line

I doubt it would. The carb cleaner dissolves the carbon build-up, and then it's combusted and shot out the exhaust as vapor and smoke. And whatever carbon is left on the cat will burn away once you take it for a drive. Cat's clog up when they melt from running the engine running too rich or too lean, or from certain fuel additives like over-the-counter octane booster.

Thanks, yes it will be expensive, for few dollars I had this result, actually it depends on the engine, some burns oil more, I suggest cleaning it every 25,000-30,000 miles

To prevent deposits from clogging the converter, you have to remove the intake manifold in your direct injection engine and manually clean off the valve deposits. Be sure to make sure both intake and exhaust valves are closed in each cylinder.

Yes its safe for engine, I always use pcv hose, never spray it from throttle

You shouldn't have to do this for a non GDI engine because the gas with cleaning additives will clean the valves for you.

is this safe to do on a turbo subaru? I usually use seafoam but I've never thought to use carb cleaner instead.

i recommend using turbo cleaner instead if your car has turbo, to keep the turbo bearings save

Hi does it matter whether you use carb cleaner or intake valve/egr cleaner.

@@AliMECH thank you also can I spray through my brake booster vacuum hose to intake valve with carb cleaner can? And does it matter if the carb cleaner is in a spray aerosol type can or do I have to spray all the carb cleaner aerosol into separate plastic water bottle like you did for your water through a bottle treatment test and have it sucked through

@@AliMECH Why do they provide valve cleaner product and then carb cleaner product if they do same job. Is one more aggressive than the other?
