@@ColdBrewBarbieHello. I have a few questions about crystals. 1. Can I carry my crystals during a wake or funeral? I've heard that some amulets and talismans should not be carried in wakes/funerals because their protective abilities diminish. How about protective crystals? 2. When burying crystals, does it need to touch the earth/dirt, or is it ok to bury it inside a box? 3. What can you say about charging Crystals in thunderstorm or rain shower and the effects of acid rain on crystals? 4. When smudging crystals, should you leave the smoke to extinguish on its own or can you snuff out the incense after smudging? And what can you say about using frankincense in smoking crystals instead of sage? 5. How often to cleanse black obsidian (i carry a tumbled stone in my pocket) Some say follow your intuition, but I've heard crystals used for protection should be cleansed more often?

I live in Italy and grow my own sage for burning, for medicinal benefits, and for cooking. You don't need White Sage to feel the benefits of cleansing. Any regular sage is just as good. Grow your own as its a very hearty herb and can be grown in small, well drainable containers on your windowsill. As long there is sun, the better and stronger the sage will be, and tastier in cooking too 🥰

To cleanse your crystal from Sunlight make it sure it's from morning sun. I do cleanse my crystal from Sunlight every morning only. Because morning sunlight is not strong and not too hot.

Im half cree Iroquois thank you for talking about sage its a touchy topic but ty it is endangered i only get smudges from medicine woman or men if i cant get it i go to the native craft store and get mugwort or cedar there is a place to offer tobacco for it. In my culture you light with a candle or matches and take off jewelery and glasses first out of respect.

I have 5 pieces of palo santo and 1 bundle of Californian sage from 2016-2017 ish before I was educated I did buy from a spiritual shop I though was ethically sourced (although I can't be certain) and I still have these. I'm glad that my initial though of not throwing them away was a good one as I didn't want to waste endangered plants. This is why I use them so sparingly in a smoke cleansing ritual associated with my specific cultural and racial background. I will however not be purchasing any in the future and haven't done so since those pieces were bought. At the time I wasn't educated on this and blindly listened to the spiritual shop owner as not only was I a teenager but also but a lot of trust in this man weekly (now knowing what I know this was not wise). Thank you for speaking up about this and bringing awareness. There are so many other herbs and resins that can be used in smoke cleansings that are not endangered or culturally significant and I wish more people and places spoke about this.

aura quartz is a treated stone. they put clear or milky quartz in an industrial oven with certain metal vapors that overtime will bond to the crystal, which gives it that color and rainbow flash. the metal adds additional properties depending on the metal and color.

I been sick the past few months and haven't got to cleanse all my crystals that are still in there boxes they came in. I've trying to get my bedroom redecorated for a long time. So I'm hoping this next week I can get started then will be able to place all my crystals out in here.

She knows i like crystals so she bought me: Red Jasper, Sodalite, Rose Quartz, Citrine, Clear Quartz, Amethyst, Tigers Eye, and my favorite crystal, Green Adventurine! All of them are real, i tested them on glass and the glass scratched but not the crystals! I bought incense as well, I got an iris flower as smell. It smells very good! Oh btw, the crystals did not really cost that much! Only 60 RON for 8 crystals! And all oh them are real!! (Yes I live in Romania) I hope the Iris Flower is a good incense!

So the tecnique is putting a glass of water out to charge in moonlight, then leaving your crystals (for one day or overnight) in the water to cleanse them. Does that work and if so is it safe for fluorite, amethyst, and Citrine? Thanks a bunch!

When cleansing your crystals with moonlight does it have to be a clear night or can it be cloudy? And also does it have to be on the full moon?
@devilish_angel3352
@devilish_angel3352 3 жыл бұрын
As far as I know it's okay if the night is cloudy and you can't see the moon itself, because the energy is still going to "break through the clouds", cloudy sky won't block the energy itself. It's like some people can't sleep nights, whem there's full moon, wether it's cloudy or not, since the energy couldn't be blocked by couds. The best moon phase to cleanse and boost your crsytals is full moon. I hope I could help you! Have a nice day!:)

Honestly, I might switch to black sage. Looked it up and fell in love with it! Honestly, with white sage, I'm not too worried. Hard to believe a cultivated plant would go extinct. I also have significant native American blood and understand the proper usage well enough. (I also don't agree with the cultural appropriation issue, as I see it as a hindrance to cultural advancement. If the person that came up with the practice was still alive that's one thing, but even the 70 years after the creator's death is far too long imo. Though this is an opinion, and is subject to change)

@rmt3589
@rmt3589 2 жыл бұрын
@@ezrsaidndone1718 I agree. The way I see it, is it's my duty to do my part to help humanity progress. Keeping any knowledge or practice "closed" would be actively going against that, and unethical in my book. While I can use my native american ancestry to defend my practices, I'd do them even if I wasn't. If it's true, I'll use it. If I wasn't using it, that would be me thinking it's wrong. Paraphrasing what a great Navajo Shaman once said: what's true is true, and other people being offended doesn't change that. (Was in reference to gender roles and women making food while on their moon. Nature taught the natives the truth, and others opinions don't change reality)

the catholic church practices witchcraft so i personally think it’s fine. taking communion is a ritual and they also do candle magick and smoke magick around special dates. plus if god made the world and everything in it then that includes crystals so there’s nothing wrong with celebrating gods gifts

I also believe in our Creator and I think the issue is putting faith in amulets and spells and idols and thus being careful not to rely more upon the crystals instead of God. But I have a crystal collection and use them for healing and believe in their properties and meaning. I think that God Yahuah created everything and that includes the beautiful crystals and precious stones of the Earth and if they have those properties it is because he put them there . Also the Aaronic priests had precious stones on their breast plates in the Old Testament!

Salt is sodium chloride. It is highly corrosive to some crystals and can change their chemical composition. Selenite contains sulfur. Same problem. I do not recommend contact with these for any crystal, especially long term direct contact because some crystals also don’t like water which would be the only way to clean them thereafter. That said, if you place the crystal near these, that’s really all it takes.

I purchase white sage that is grown on private land sustainably and appreciate this knowledge! I usually use cedar but to me, buying it sustainably is a good thing. I am 1/8 native American but my dad left home at 14 and I don't have access to that side of my life. To me never having known that side of my heritage, I take it seriously and have watched many videos from native Americans while deciding how to feel about white sage. People (mostly other white folk) get mad at me because I look too white to use sage and I can understand but I think appropriation comes from lack of care or knowledge. Many of us are mutts in america and our spiritual choices may be eclectic as we find our place. I did watch a video about Palo- it is not endangered and in fact the only place it is endangered is an island and that is protected by their government, it's a specific species of Palo. They use Palo santo as bug repellant mostly because it's great for that but if you can avoid it I think it's fine if it makes you more comfortable 🤷‍♀️ I have a few pieces sent to me and I burn it once in awhile just because I have it but I don't buy it. People will get mad about anything they can and I try to just remind myself not everyone's path looks the same. I wish people would stop being cruel to each other about white sage. People get mad it's endangered, but then say it's okay to still buy from native Americans. .. if it's sacred and endangered, why would you buy it from them? So I buy sustainably, privately harvested. I have also heard white sage isn't even native to America anyway and hasn't always been used by native Americans until it was brought over but I do not know how real that is🤷‍♀️

Are incense in the same vein as sage in terms of culture appropriation or something else entirely?

You don't have to say a prayer or any words when you cleanse?

Depends how you get the sage and how you feel about it. I buy it sustainably where it's grown on private land specifically for eclectic spiritual practitioners so there's no robbing the native Americans of their endangered wildcraft sage. I am part native but my dad ran away at 14 and I never got to know that part of my heritage so I do use white sage occasionally and I treat it with respect. There are great alternatives, you can use incense or make your own loose incense. I really like Celtic Incense which is copal, benzoin (sp?), lavender, and I think 🤔 I can't remember but you can place loose herbs on a charcoal disc in a fireproof container or cauldron with some sand and smoke cleanse and you can use whatever you feel like. Frankincense, rosemary, lavender, all popular choices. You can make your own smoke cleanse bundles with natural twine. Many people use bay leaves, cedarleaf, garden rosemary. There are also other forms of sage - blue sage, kitchen sage, and so on. It doesn't have to be white but when nothing else will do, I do use white sage.

So the smudging ceremonial practice is indigenous practice but smoke cleansing has been used all over for hundreds of centuries?

Honest question tho, isn't "smudging" an English word anyway? What's the purpose of calling it "smoke cleansing" instead? Kinda sounds like rebranding to avoid buzz words in searches, rather than an actual attempt to avoid cultural appropriation.

I believe because the practice of “smudging” is sacred, people who don’t practice smudging shouldn’t use it. And people who are not native Americans shouldn’t be smudging. Especially profiting off it from a sales perspective. Yes it’s an English word but it doesn’t matter the words origin, it’s the meaning and scared practice or Of the word. Her video explains it better and if you ask her she may respond with a more in-depth answer!

I think she has a strong tone, but I think she’s frustrated from years of oppression and culture misappropriation so I can understand why it came across that way. Thank you for watching it, I think the important things are to avoid buying white sage from big box companies and to be mindful of cultural appropriation which we can all work to be more aware of! I think her video though harsh is important to lead change!
