Good information. Before I purchased mine I done a lot of research on the flooding. So far I have followed the correct starting procedures and I am very satisfied with the cs590. My cs330t needs slightly more choke on startup. Both saws cool off quicker since the muffler mod

Thanks, brother. Our first winter living in the woods and some winds dropped a tree across our dirveway then a wet snowfall dropped a few more on the road up the mountain. I have been trying to get this saw running for 3 weeks now, tried all these things. Had it running today, been trying to get it running again for 40 mins now. Not sure what the problem is but I'm returning this saw tomorrow due to the fact the craftsman I bought years ago actually started and did what I needed it to do. Then it stopped running and I though I'd get a bigger saw and now I regret going with this particular brand because holy heck I don't see why it's been such a pain to start. The craftsman had the instructions right on the saw and it worked, I won't lie I abused the heck out of it and is probably why I couldn't get it to start no more but it was only $150, I just spent $500 on this Echo 590 and only managed to get it running once and that was today after giving it a 2 week break, now it's flooded again and none of these "tips" have worked. I'm exhausted and annoyed, just going to go get another craftsman or order one online. I bought this saw because at this time the stores both home depot and lowes have been sold out of most of the saws, it was either the smallest saw or the biggest. This time I'm just going to go in the middle and probably order it online.

Hey Brother. From Vancouver BC, Canada here. I am on 2 acres and got 60 giant hundred year old evergreen trees and 50 something smaller leafy trees. I just bought CS-590 to tackle the super big round trunks and to timberland 6 giant evergreens. Starting this saw was a nightmare 😢. I almost broke my shoulder trying to start this saw. Your video was awesome. I started first try after following your video. I hate the black decompression gas valve bottom. I never use it. Just FYI. I use my 14" bar Ecco CS-2511T 90% of the time. It's way lighter and easier to start. I highly recommend it but I am on an acreage so I need both the big saw and small saw. Thanks for taking your time to do this useful video. I like it. Straight to the point and not long. You're literally a shoulder injury life saver hahaha. 😊

Rented this saw, was shocked how easily this saw CS-590-20" floods and will not start. Stupid mistake like forgetting to flip the switch and single pull or did not pull the cord hard enough or too cold or .. the saw is flooded will never start again until you take it apart like you showed us.

The simplest way to clear a flooded two stroke, or any carbureted engine is to open the throttle wide. That will negate the ‘Venturi’ pressure differential and allow fresh air to flow freely throughout the engine and combustion chamber, thereby evaporating the liquid fuel. It may take some effort but eventually the engine will sputter first and then start. At first the exhaust will be quite blue, and the engine may run rough. That’s the excess oil burning off. But as the engine runs the exhaust will clear and the engine will smooth out. I’ve been an urban forester for nearly thirty years. And though removing the spark plug is a good way to air out a flooded cylinder, if we had to do that in the field on a weekly basis we’d tear spark plug threads out of the cylinder in no time.

For the love of God people - just hold the throttle wide open, with the choke off, and pull till it starts. You flooded it with too much gas. All it needs is air flow through the carb to clear it out. Simple simple. To those of you who say this saw is a piece of crap, you are far too ignorant to operate an incredibly simple machine.

I love this saw. After 2 years, I am finally at a point where I can't get it started. I've had the spark plug out but didn't pull the cord to drain it. I was cutting a fallen tree 2 months ago. Stopped for the eve and haven't been able to start it since (4 different tries weeks apart). I saw another trick where you turn off the choke and use something to keep it full throttle (I use a rubber "gumby" wire wrap). Pull it 20 times choke off, full throttle and it clears a flooded chamber. It worked when needed a few times last year, but this year, nothing. I'm going to do this and also add a straw tip full of 2 stroke oil into the cylinder before replacing the sparkplug. If neither work, I'll be back here lookin'
