It's now July 2024 and this video's configuration process still works! Thanks Abt for helping me get my Airport Express working again. We recently moved and I needed to re-establish a link to a new wifi modem connection so I can stream music from my iMac and output to my stereo. I initially tried using the Apple's AirPort Utility app, but it took using my iPhone (as the video explains) to set up that connection. Video was easy to follow.

It’s 2023 and I find myself wanting to connect my old AirPort Express , it’s blinking amber , tried to reset it it’s not showing in the airport utility ! Also i don’t see the option in the WiFi settings any airport base station ! Am I out of luck here ? Thank you

Thank you! Too many people confused me with complicated computer methods. I found your video and had it all set up in a couple of minutes!

If the option doesn't come up for setting up a new base station in Wifi settings, press the reset button on the AirPort. Give it some time, and it should show up.

Here's what I learned. The option shown to set up a new airport base station on my iPhone did NOT appear UNTIL I had RESET the airport express base station. Step 1 - Find the tiny reset "button" on the airport express base station, and using a paperclip hold it in for about five seconds until the amber light flashes rapidly. The device eventually showed an unblinking amber light after half a minute or so. Step 2 - Only THEN could I see the option on my iPhone to set up a new airport base station. Once you have that, follow the video.

So the first instruction isn't a goer. No option to setup a new Air Port Base Station in WiFi settings - now what?

How many Airport Extreme or Airport Express can I connect to extended my network coverage in my home? Is it possible up to six Airport Extremes / Express or mixed in between? Thank you.

I have a Netcomm Wireless Router my Airport Express extended the Netcomms wireless signals flawlessly, this is what there designed for not sure why you said there not designed for other routers @4:02, plus I work for Apple so little confused, there's hundreds of videos out there with people connecting these upto non apple routers, great video just FYI

Worked the first time with iPhone 8s iOS 13.3.1

mine started blinking orange, so i reset it and used this to help me set it back up. it's STILL blinking orange :| the message on the utilities app is "this airport base station was unable to extend the wireless network. make sure the wireless network you're trying to extend was set up and is working correctly, that you entered a matching wireless network password into this device, and that this device is in range of the wireless network" im about to just get something new lol idk what else to do
