I'm trying to buy one now that they support airplay 2! You can connect it to something like an old speaker or record player set up to make it homekit and airplay enabled!

I have a question for you. I current have my AirPort express plugged into the WAN port, I have a cable going from the Airport to a switch, from the Switch it plugs into my router. My SSID broadcast is turned off on my router. The Airport is set to extend my wireless network. But I don't know if it's work or even how to set it up the right way. Could you please explain to me how to extend my Wireless network even with the SSID broadcast turned off?

Thank you for this rather excellent and very high quality gadget review! I'm most likely to get one as I just love the design and is completely perfect for our use as a main router. Hooking up a 1000mbit switch and our ISPs dsl modem. With dual band wifi - just perfect! ;)

Dude I love your channel, you have a new subscriber! I've been seeing my airport express blinking yellow for over a year and it was green when I first got it and set it up, but since the internet was never down I didn't worry about it. You mentioned Airport Utility in this vid so I used it and there was firmware I needed to update my Airport Express with and now it's back to green again! Thanks a Million!

I have one and its good for apple devices but for other things like Sony (PS3-PS4) etc… its awfull I mean I have 6mb and its ok but it feals like I have 0.5mb… Is there a probleme or something??

im a little confused on the purpose of the device. I have been led to believe that this can be plugged in with just a power cord anywhere and allow internet connection. Is this true? Or do you have to have another router to access internet. I had thought that i could plug it into the wall and be on the internet.

This device isn't able to take Internet wherever you go that is absolutely 100% a misconception about this device. Although with this device can do is they can replace existing router or it can extend the range of that existing router or a can connect to another existing Apple airport!

Mike, thank you so much for your extremely thorough and. Very informative video about the airport express. I learned so much more from your video then I did at both the Apple store as well as Best Buy. I also very much appreciated the link that you had below this video that said compare models! I purchased the airport express, but after going to be compare models page I realized that I need the AirPort Extreme, Due to the size of our home.

Really good review? Could i use this to transfer music and pics to my old mac pro from iPad 4 and iPhone 8 plus and ipad pro? ? My macpro is from 2007 so it cant see these devices when i try to sync! I m using lion.

I have plug my airport into a 3 Gig Thumb Drive and it seems to be doing fine you can also plug it into a printer and that is that you with the man uses but yes you can very much so use drives.

I highly recommend this. Our church recently got one and we have cement walls. It reaches full strength downstairs when the airport is on the third floor. Great range!

Hi i have this router, it was given to me from my friend. The only problem is it asks for password and i don't know that. do you know how to unlock it without the old owners password? Thank you

Their is a small hole on the back of the unit. It should be as big as a paper clip. Plug the device in and push the paper clip into the hole for 5-10 seconds. The airport should start blinking Amber after. Then you can connect you device and set it up as a brand new factory reset device.

When I watch a movie that way (audio through AirPlay to a secondary speaker), will the picture and audio be in sync? I can imagine there's a delay in AirPlay.

Basically, you plug everything into the airport and it makes them all wireless. So you can create your own wireless connection for your computer to use the internet, you can have a sound system or printer on the other end of the room without cables all over. The higher end also work as a back up HDD and instead of doing regular backups, they constantly are backing up everything you do to protect all files from a computer crash at any second.

Yes. There's a bunch of compatibility issues with doing this with a PC though. With a mac it's sweet for this feature. With my PC, it's a pain to get it set up. I have some networking understanding and managed to do it, but after restarting a computer it stopped working and needed to be reconfigured- even with the program "Bonjour" which is supposed to solve your problems.

I live in a apartment so the unit shares the Internet band. The router I have now gets weak signals will this make the signals stronger?

It works well enough. You may have to forward ports (Although Apple says it doesn't block ports by default)

I think I'm gonna buy one as a repeater... So I can extend my signal around the house better. My only question is if you do that, do you have to switch over networks from the Airport Extreme to the Airport Express, or is it all one seamless network, if setup like I said.

The Airport Express can extend your network to improve signal strength it can not however improve speed. The theoretical speed the DHCP/NAT would provide at that range is what you will get even with the express as an extender.

The comment is 3 years old but for people like me who still want to buy one of the airport express stuff. Without the airport express we have 50k speed with the airport express as an extender via LAN cable the wifi speed is just 5 to 7k. So mostly useless. =(

yeah you can. I have the previous Airpot express and I have my HP printer hooked up via USB. With that setup I have air print. Though It only works for may mac. my ipad and iphone does not pick up the printer.

If you go to Settings and then sound, you can choose your airplay speakers for all of your macbook's sound.

If I want to use it as a range extender is there much of a difference if I use the new model or the older model. The thing I liked about the older model is that is connected straight to the wall. Would there be much of a speed difference?

No, works with all Wifi devices that can connect to it or the router it is connected it. The application being used on the device then needs to support AirPlay. All iPhones and iPads all have that integrated already, but not all Mac and PC programs do. You'd need to check for those.

Is this the same size as the Apple TV (exactly)? I would kinda like to put one in a wall mount, but the only one available right now is for the Apple TV. They look the same size, but I'm not sure.

That's one of the features. Also a print server (though annoying incompatibilities via a PC), and an airplay device (it's coolest feature)
