How to connect a dryer vent to an outside exhaust vent through the soffit.

I climb through the attic to confirm the condition of the dryer vent, remove some of the soffit, install a soffit vent into the vinyl soffit, attach dryer soffit vent to duct and confirm when dryer is on that the dryer vent is operational.

well... I appreciate your attempt at a helpful video lol... but.. I'm not a professional but I see two problems, you don't want to vent next to soffit vents because that hot air and moisture gets sucked right back into your attic, and you don't want to use flex duct because lint gets stuck really easy to it, you want to use smooth metal pipe.... I am trying to vent dryer through my soffit but that side of the house does not have vents, on to the next video... lol

I have heard this same comment a few times and tomorrow I will go up into the attic and film a follow up to see if there is and mold or mildew. I do not think I will find any but that is because the climate where I live is hot and humid with mild winters. I don't think there is enough moister being blown back up into the attic to have an impact but there is only one way to find out if I fixed a dryer vent or created another problem. The wife's car is in the way so I cannot get into the attic, and we have a severe weather alert today, so the car is not moving. Look for a video post tomorrow to see if your right.

Nice vidio. Very bad idea to vent anything through your soffit. Has vents in it to provide convective ventilation into your attic. The moisture from the dryer and the bathroom vent can be drawn into the attic and cause condensation and mold. These soffit vents should not be sold in box stores. They are prohibited by code in most jurisdictions. Venting through the outside wall with vents directed down and far below the soffit is a much better option.

It was a temporary solution. No longer have the dryer using the sofit vent. I need to go into the attic and see if there is any mold.

If you think this video was bad watch the one titled "Why you should pay someone to connect a bathroom exhaust fan to exhaust outside". I think it is good video and funny at the same time.
