Please seek out the service data for your particular car. Warmup and running currents are different for EVERY engine type and there are even different figures for the different national versions of each engine. Do not ask me for service manuals.

Do not allow any metal part of the clip leads or DMM leads touch metal parts of the engine / car. Do not short out the clip leads or let them touch each other, you may destroy the ECU.

Simple, straightforward and easy to understand instruction. Thanks heaps from Kota Bharu, Malaysia. Will test it soon...

I did this sort of test on my EHA Valve and found the source of my surging problem on my 2.5-16. Electrical flow chart was sooo good to do. Thanks

What was the problem? I'm trying to get my own -16 to run smoother. Trying to rig up gauges to confirm pressure regulator pressure.

It was the most bizzare problem. If I started it and never turned it off it didn’t surge at idle. If I turned engine off and restarted it while hot, it surged and stalled. So a hot start problem. Get yourself the electrical flow chart and run through it. It’s the only way you will know for sure and how I found my problem

@@robgimenez5031 Thanks for sharing. What was the final fix? A temperature sensor or new ecm?

@@ebutuoyebutouy what I found was a partially broken wire leading to the EHA unit. I thought I was so dumb that I couldn’t read an multi meter (reading zero) when I bumped it and saw it spike up in ma The wire was super brittle and when I stripped it back, most of the copper wire strands were broken with only a single strand unbroken. So I had a donor car and used the plug which gave me a bit of extra lead to enable a fix. Soldered and shrink wrapped. Solid fix. It was amazing to finally see the cause of the problem. I swear I turned the car on and off 20 times before I was convinced that I’d fixed the problem.
