Yup. Same issue. It shows up, reports locked and unlocked but doesn’t respond to commands from HomeKit. Using 4th Gen WiFi lock, an Apple Home pod nearby. Not the end of the world but am still searching for the secret sauce to make it work.

Hello my friend, I just bought a lock similar to yours. Are you able to control the door through HomeKit even when away from home? Or do you need the Wi-Fi bridge for this functionality?

Hello Gabriel, thanks for tuning in and commenting. I was able to control the lock through Homekit while away from home because of the Apple hub. I was successful in adding the lock to my HomeKit but unfortunately it’s not responding to Siri commands. And, it does not respond when I press on the “lock” icon on the HomeKit. Any idea what may be the problem? Thank you in advance

I really don’t have an answer for you. If you were successful in adding the lock to HomeKit, then Siri and using the Home app should work. Something isn’t 100%. If this was happening to me, I’d remove the lock from HomeKit and add it again. If that doesn’t work, factory reset the lock, then start over. This video was made a while ago, so I don’t recall if the HomeKit setup was done through the August app or directly in the HomeKit app. Good luck.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe the August lock has to be connected to Bluetooth in order to work not wifi

Correct. That particular generation required the Connect Bridge in order to access it remotely or use smart assistants.

I'm having the exact same issues. I am notified when the lock is locked/unlock through HomeKit, but I cannot control the lock with Siri or through HomeKit. I will try the factory reset suggestion. Has anyone resolved this issue? Obviously this smart lock is of no use to me if I cannot use it through HomeKit.

Hi Kevin, do you have multiple wifi networks in your home? Make sure your phone is connected to the same wifi network as the lock. I know this is a simple thing, but overlooked by many.

@@QuikTechSolutions No, just one network. I also, deleted and reinstalled it. No help. Very frustrating. Another video suggested I might need the August Connect bridge. I've emailed August, too.

The Connect bridge allows for Android users to remotely access the August lock when away from home. So, that’s not a factor. The lock works on the home network for both Android & iOS users. The bridge is used to give Android users remote access. An Apple hub is required to give iOS users remote access. Following the steps outlined in my video is all that is required to use Homekit. So, since it’s not working properly, check to see if there are any available firmware updates for the lock itself. Also, make sure you’re running the latest iOS software as well.

@@QuikTechSolutions Sorry, I'm new to your channel. I have the Wi-Fi Smart lock (4th gen). It states on the box no additional wi-fi bridge required. That's why I'm confused as to why it doesn't work with HomeKit. Thanks for all your help.

Hi Kevin, no need to apologize. Welcome aboard, thanks for tuning in. So, I’m including a link direct from August confirming what i said earlier about the Bridge requirement. It’s only for Android users. You’ll see in small print it recommend iOS users to use an Apple hub for remote access. august.com/products/august-connect I would reach out to August Customer support.
