This video saved me from a headache, and let me tell you why: I spent over an hour downloading and installing iTunes, then registering an apple ID (Android user here) for the SOLE PURPOSE of album art. Why? My new Kia has a Microsoft UVO interface, and I can save music to the navigation. Well... For whatever reason, Windows Media encrypted the album art so that only a few albums showed the images. Apparently, iTunes is better suited for that. Long story short, a few hours later, and I can't figure out how to "sync" the music to my SanDisk USB (Windows Media simply synced and that was it). Thank you so much. It's kinda common sense to just copy and paste the iTunes folder... But I was beyond frustrated and pissed off, and I figured I'd Google it... Your video saved me a headache. You're the shit my dude.

A humongous time saver. I started out cutting, pasting, dragging and dropping individual albums. With 20 gigs of music, it didn’t take me long to realize that this was extremely inefficient. Took 5 extra minutes to watch this video. A few clicks on the screen and bada bing done. Many thanks for the information.

Ok. So I get a paid subscription from iTunes, and whatever I've downloaded from iTunes, I can transfer to an external hard drive to play at my convenience, with or without an iTunes subscription. Correct?

My ipod died, it was 18 years old, I didn't know how I was going to get my itunes music.....thank you so much for your video...thats a thank you times ten!!! I transferred all of it to a fladh drive and plugged the flash drive into my car and I fave all my music..

When I try this I cannot hear the music on my flashdrive it downloaded fine plug the flashdrive in my car no sound or if I try to listen to the album on my laptop it says file not supported

you got me a little confuse at the beginning with all those back in forward opening different screens but you are awesome, I would suggest to re do the video and make it in 1 2 3 steps so anyone can understand ( specially people like me with limited computer skill. you are the best Now I have all my music in one flash drive. thank you Jamie

I noticed you didn't click and add the folder "Album Artwork". My car's display is capable of displaying the album artwork on the screen, which is nice. Would it be required to add this folder as well to get the artwork to show, or would it show anyway?

I have a car fm transmitter, never stored music onto a SD card before. I noticed that my albums are double folders see one folder it's the name of the artist click on it, there's another folder it's the name of the album, click on that it's the list of the tracks. These types of files won't play will they? How do I correct that? Each track shows m4a is that alright? What do I need to do, in order for my music to be able to play from the transmitter through my car stereo? Shame these devices doesn't allow you to connect and store more than one Bluetooth device i.e. mobile phone & iPod 😥

Could I transfer individual files only to ADD TO another computers iTunes library? Do they have to have the folders? not sure I may have duplicate folder names on the add to computer.

Thanks. Yes, I converted them back to MP3 files. A lot of work with 100 gb of music files. I also had to merge both of my iTunes profiles.

Try doing it with 325gB !! Apple is being complete BS with MUSIC. If they at least made a new Ipod I'd be golden but mine are all getting oldd and now I'm dealing with a new ride that doesn't like Ipods.....!!!!

you would need to run a program on it to organize them or something, I think you could just use iTunes, I think I did that before.

Super informative, thank you. I am transferring music to a USB Flash Drive for the purpose of using the USB Drive with CDJ player and a streamer -- it's my understanding that I should first create a folder on the USB Flash Drive titled "Music", does that sound right to you? Thanks again

so if I downloaded a CD on my iTunes and I needed to open my iTunes on a different computer I can copy all songs from my CD's to a USB and save them on the new computer so that I can easily put them on my iTunes without having to put in a CD and do it that way? because like what if a CD breaks and you don't want to buy a new one!

You can right click in the folder and you can choose how you’d like to sort them by item by date etc.

+Noel Pelletier if you want to take iTunes music and put on flash drive you're going to have to go into the actual folder where iTunes is storing your music files and then copy and paste them from there over to the flash drive they are stored on your computer itself I believe there in the iTunes media folder

+Peter Meiwaku I think itunes stores downloads from the itunes store as ACC files but it will work for mp3 format also.

Hi I bought my son some NDX900’s we’ve been trying to transfer songs from iTunes to usb we can get them on the usb but they won’t play on the the NDX900’s any ideas ? Some are mp3 some are m4p etc

It's kind of funny. I remember back in 1987 I was listening to the radio and someone was talking how eventually music will be on a chip instead of a CD. Fast Forward to 2018 and I bought a new car. No CD drive in it but a port for a thumb drive. At first I was a bit apprehensive about this new way of storing and listening music but found it to be way more convenient then having a stack of CDs. Technology is amazing!

What about all the other folders in the Itunes library??? Album Artwork Itunes Media Itunes Library (This is the one with all the music that you said to copy over) Itunes Library extras Itunes Library genius Itunes music libray temp.file temp

I followed everything like you said but I only have 13 songs in that folder compared to the 200 I have total in iTunes. I've looked in all the folders. Do you know anywhere else they may be?

sounds like they are in the itunes media folder check there or check in the purchases folder

@@jamiewagner I found what happened. The majority of my songs on itunes are from another source, such as CDs and other media sources that I've added to my iTunes library. Apparently when I added them to my library the box to add them to that itunes media folder was not checked. So the only songs that were there are the ones I actually pur hased through itunes. Thanks for your help.

I use Windows 7 and have a small hard disk (100G) therefore the music files (10G) was too large for the laptop. I transferred all my music to a USB stick but cannot get iTunes to "read" from the USB even though I have changed the file location in iTunes to the USB stick.. I found the demo using Windows 10 a bit confusing (i.e., name of files/folders). But generally the presentation is very comprehensive.

I noticed iTunes has these audio files as mp4a . My Car radio doesn't support this format.

+garry Barnes yes I had that issue to you would have to upgrade your car stereo to something that supports those files or you could convert the files to MP3s and then try that in your car stereo I'm sure it probably at least supports MP3s but if not you're gonna have to get a new deck
