You need to transfer your iTunes data from the old laptop to the new one. that should be possible. Once you have done that, Serato will read it as usual. Serato is capable of reading playlists etc from iTunes and from Music, so no issues there. Find an Apple guide on the right way to get everything from your old laptop iTunes to your new laptop Music and you'll be fine.

The meta data that is stored in the file, yes. That which iTunes keeps in its own database (rating is one example), no. But basically, yes - most will come over.

The opposite. Ticked will make a COPY of any music you play in iTunes into the iTunes media folder. That means all your music in one place, and you could remove the removable driver, delete the download etc. Unticked: The opposite (it just references it where it is).

Phil puts his music through Platinum Notes 4 and Mixed in Key. So all his files are in mp3.

I just tried this. Half my folder was mp3, great. Other half was m4a, any way around that? I want all my iTunes as mp3 for dj’ing purposes.

You can convert them within iTiunes, but why? They will all play fine as m4as.

I did the PN’s>MIK>iTunes workflow....the guy from MIK told me in an email not to delete the original music files in case something goes wrong with PN’s files. What I did today is create a folder on my Mac desktop called it PN’smusic and moved all my PN’s files to it so I can just dump it(copy)it onto a USB SSD 2TB external drive as I formatted it EXFAT and as I only have 500 tracks in the PN’s folder anyhow but what I want to just be able to do without jumping through 100 hoops and spending more $ is to just move my traktor/PN/MIK analysed PN’s folder over onto the ssd drive and just plug straight into my linked up Denon SC5000M’s.....Jesus H Christ I just wish EP could just do the analysis right(beatgrids) and then BPM would be error free upon analysis.....sick and tired of getting bogged down in all this workflow. I did manage to get my traktor(MIK cues and all)recently into Denon EP and on a USB target device but I accidentally chose in traktor to import music folder.....so everything inclusive of all the duplicates got imported and same in EP.....but I still got amongst all the chaos the traktor/MIK analysed files cues and all into EP but obviously it was messy so had to uninstall/re-install traktor pro 3/EP erase reformat USB drive.....sigh! But this time before any integration with EP I need to refine beatgrids,markers in traktor pro 3 and while I’m at it check MIK cue points before importing JUST the PN’s folder/files in traktor and nothing else.

Hmm it shouldn't happen like that, I'd check out the Serato forums - usually pretty busy and helpful!

You dont own apple music. Its like a rented copy with inscription. The songs can also only be played through itunes or apple music. Wont work on serato for djs.

Digital DJ Tips ok so I downloaded a cd onto iTunes, it’s a house music Dj set with say 13 tracks by various artists, this is a it’s mixed from one track to another with no delay in between songs. I don’t have a CD player in my car and works like to listen to this cd in my car. So I take a memory stick and attempt to load this cd which is now on iTunes to the memory stick, from my iMac. When I try to bring this one cd with 13 different tracks which is continuous and no delay in between tracks, it goes into the memory stick as 13 different tracks. How can I put this cd as one file onto the memory stick? Sorry man I know it long winded but it’s frustrating, I tried many things. Thank you.

I would personally use a DAW or Audacity to make the 13 files into one - might be another way of doing it but not sure off the top of my head

I'm not sure, but if you order the folder by "date added" or "date modified" you may be able to separate both collections and delete one of them more easily. It's important when you're doing this stuff to figure out what is happening at each step - try writing/drawing stuff on paper if it helps! And always back up...

Hi Gerald I would say to your Q to switch off or un tick the Keep iTunes Media Organized and the Copy files to ITunes Media Folder.as this will only duplicate the music files on your computer & take up twice the amount of HD space.also if you are thinking of getting the Apple steaming service... then create another account under a different name as this simple Apple music download service will cause havoc to your iTunes music filing system.i had over 80k music files & joined under a “Family” account & had to remove it 6 months later as it had almost ruined my music filing system,stay away from Apple Music or just create another account name for DJing👍🏾

Yeas, Apple Music deleted my music folder. After I accidentally clicked the file (m3u8 playlist). The playlist automatically opened Aple music and uploaded all tracks from this playlist to the cloud (it was a pre-saved playlist from Rekordbox). I thought, "..why do I need these tracks in the cloud" and deleted the download... But, as it turned out, along with this, tracks are automatically deleted from the My Music folder and moved to the itunes media folder. In addition to the tracks, there was also my mix in wav format). I returned the downloads, but apple music changed the encoding, making the quality of the tracks worse. Also after that, Rekordbox 6.04 couldn't find these tracks even with the magic "autorelocation”function. Apple's technical support couldn't help.
