4 stripe blue in roy dean’s lineage prepping for the purple belt demo you mentioned. Indeed…the combination portion seems to be the toughest. Thanks so much for posting this! I’ll be studying on this

I've always joked that I go through the stages of grief when preparing a demo. It's a little frustrating at first, but it always seems to magically come together just in time. Good luck!

Another great video with some clever ideas. As I get older, I have been looking for some less abusive ways to train, and going through this kind of flow is perfect!

This video is fantastic and helps me with the transition from blue belt to purple belt. This is the first video of flow sequences I’ve seen, please continue to do others. Your videos are inspirational. Thank you .

Thank you I really enjoy watching your videos. Especially when you speak about bjj and getting older . I’m 50 years old and have just returned to bjj after not training for almost 14 years. I’m back about 5 months and although it’s been a blast . It’s been quite difficult . I would love to train everyday if I could but the body will only allow 4 days a week and 2 of those are non rolling days . Just drills and flows to the best of my ability. Thank you for what you do . I would love to be able to talk to you more in depth about my situation if you have any advice I would appreciate your knowledge

Fantastic knowledge! As a white belt, I’ve been wondering how I can accelerate by ability to create flow. I want to be a good uke for smaller partners (I’m 6’4”, 210lbs) and I noticed that with the women I train with, I was been just too stiff and in many ways insurmountable

Being too rigid is helpful for very specific applications (executing a sweep or throw for example) and you will notice more skilled training partners can move around you easier(bridges, frames, escapes) the stiffer you are. Women almost always lack a size and strength advantage over their training partners and, because of this, tend to be very skilled for their ranks.

60 year old Gracie white belt. Seven months in, my rolling looks nothing like the blue belts at the beginning of the video. . I wish it did.

Professor, I just got my 4th stripe on my white a few days ago and while my school doesn’t require demonstrations for promotion, it got me thinking that I would like to maybe write down and make very explicit to myself all that I know so far. Have you posted the requirements for someone going from white to blue somewhere? For some reason I was thinking you had but I can’t seem to find it.

@Greg Lurik on and off for gosh probably 4 years. Way more time off than I would like. Probably about 2 years of actual training. Just today my coach was asking me what size belt and rash guard I wear and j was like 😳 haha

Hi. The way i remember it is pinky to pinky. Make sure pinky on your hand lines up]p w pinky on his toe. This is correct grip, wrong hand wont work. Then its sort of like a kimura grip with your other hand onderneath at his achilles heel and grab wrist of ‘choking’ hand. Torque in direction away from pinky.at least this is how i do it. Go slow and give partner time to tap
