Thank you so much. I almost gave up, then I noiticed your Mini Tool, worked like magic. Downloaded at least 4GB of updates (windows and drivers updates). Now I'm updated to latest (2022, March) patch. Got all the latest security and bug fixes patch. Having a 15 years old laptop, I was so confused on what OS to use since Windows 7 officially ended support. I tested Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 both x86 and x64 bit versions for weeks and had really bad experience. I made up my mind to take a risk since I saw your video to go back to Windows 7 and I'm really happy everything went well. Big love brother. ❤️🙌

If you're working with low end hardware, try giving Lubuntu a shot. Bit of research required if you aren't familiar with linux (or Ubuntu rather), but it's a pretty nice OS imo. Lubuntu 20.04.5 only requires around 400mb of ram usage and is quite capable of gaming with Steam, GOG and Epic Games (with Heroic Launcher), and almost every other gaming client (via Lutris). It's a much safer alternative to use for internet access than Win7. Though I haven't had any issues using Win7 over the past few years. Maybe I'm just lucky lol. Lubuntu helped me get rid of stuttering in-game in Wayward and Ubuntu allowed me to play Hollow Knight maxed out at 1080p, neither of which were possible on my very old PC with Win7.

Sending much respect, thank you! I'm not one of those who go crazy over Windows 7 but to me I also am, because it has a place in my heart, I'm one of those that grew up with Windows 7 and all. To be stuck on Windows 10 since 2016, I've been wanting to revert back ever since it lost support and then I couldn't find any good tutorials on how to make sure it's on the latest update possible - all I kept seeing was how to be safe on it, like having adblocking web extensions, a separate administrator account so if someone was to gain access somehow through a virus, they need the password from the admin and can't do anything otherwise. So, to have found you, someone who's given this tutorial it has given me the motivation to downgrade without any worries and being on the latest service pack out there (or at least I think SP2 is the latest) Thanks.

Very useful! From what I know the Extended Security Updates will end on January 2023, in just three more months! At the point the Windows 7 operating system will officially be unsupported; no more update of any time, not even for the enterprise. Maybe you could create one last ISO at that time. That will definitely be the final Windows 7 ISO we'll ever need!

Yes, for the most part. The mainstream security updates are no version specific but there are 32-bit and 64-bit versions for each update. So, you have to install the one that is correct for your system type

Hi there! I'm sorry to hear about the corrupted ISO error. Have you tried redownloading the ISO file from the source? That can sometimes fix the issue. In the meantime, I'll see if I can find some additional troubleshooting tips for corrupted ISOs in the video description or comments.

I've been thinking about this. I hoped that ultimate would be enough, but the more you think about it the more it seems other editions deserve the same treatment for both x86 and x64 versions

I thought about including a browser installation package on the custom ISO, but it becomes a slippery slope. If I include 1 install package should I include 3 or 5 if there are that many viable browsers?

When I get into the install page I can't use the keyboard or mouse. I have legacy usb support enabled I even tried plugging my 2.0 keyboard into what I think is a 2.0 hub and nothing, Any ideas?

That's great to hear you found the video helpful! Windows 7 itself has limited native support for USB 3.0, but with the updates you might be able to get some functionality. To ensure full USB 3.0 functionality, you'll likely need to install the specific drivers from your motherboard or laptop manufacturer after installing Windows 7. Did you have a particular motherboard or chipset in mind that you'd like to check compatibility for?

How did you get the English in the windows minitool to work? You skipped over how you got the language pack to work. Even thought I have unzipped the English language in the same folder as the exe, it still shows up as Russian or whatever that language is.... And there seems to be no way to change the language.

If I recall correctly, there is a subfolder for language that the file needs to be in, not the same folder as the mini tool

I don’t know how else to reach you but, I tried installing your windows 7 that had all of the updated and the updated drivers in it and it won’t boot on my ryzen gaming laptop. I’ve tried everything and it just doesn’t work.

The age of the video doesn't matter, the comments always show up in a queue for me to respond to. As for using this ISO on a USB drive you can use a tool like Rufus or Power ISO

After Power ISO is installed, when you right click on an ISO there is a context menu option to "Open with Power ISO". Does that answer your question?

Is there a way to grab updates only from about March 2015 and earlier? I want an ISO with updates that predate the telemetry spying ones added later in 2015. I will be using it offline, so it won't matter that it's 8 years out of date. Please help.

ok i extracted iso file from archives dot org, i click on set up exe to install windows, it asks to do it either online to collect informaiton or offline, i click online but it gets stuck forever there for over an hour nothing happens. should i install them offline? is this how its supposed to be.

@@adventuresinnostalgia i mean before installation it asks you to do it online so you get right away updates for drivers and firmware. for me it gets stuck there forever. i havent tried installing it with hte offline option. anyway if i choose install offline, will the iso/package install most of the updates till 2021 or just win 7 without any updates after 2016?

Yes to the pen drive. No to changing the language to Polish. I'm not able to verify right this moment, but I'm 98% sure that the base ISO I used was English only

Will this work on a gigabyte aorus b450m with a ryzen 5 2600x? Installing windows 7 works for me but after doing reboot I always get a startup error

Can you take a test? I have an old IBM laptop with Windows 2000 with all the updates made. Avast 7 can't connect to their update servers since 2013 I don't think it helps. At least what browsers could be used. Supported browser versions do not work very well.

I know that there is an Extended Kernel for Windows 2000 with which you can run applications compatible with Windows XP.

For some reason my comment keeps getting removed. I basically say about an existing update package that you can download that takes the monotony out of downloading all the updates individually, as it already has them all in one package. I guess KZfaq doesn't like the name of the package for some reason.

I tried to install the 64bit iso on qemu. It fails to finish the installation complaining about a corrupt intel ethernet driver ifM63x64. How to fix that? Thanks..

That's a great question! While the video covers creating a Windows 7 installation, installing it on a 2022 ROG Strix G15 might be tricky. Windows 7 may have compatibility issues with newer hardware like this laptop. Have you checked if ASUS offers Windows 7 drivers for the G15?

For me, I install it, and at the end when you get the error, you can close the setup with task manager rather than clicking the cancel/close button. Although it gives an error, the program(s) still seem to work just fine if you force close the setup.

Windows Live Essentials support ended in 2012, so it might be a bit tricky to get it working perfectly on a modern system. Have you tried any troubleshooting steps yet? In the meantime, I can point you to some resources that might help, or maybe suggest some alternative programs!

You can still install the esu and install the security monthly quality roll up for each month, cuz ultimate is very slow and professional is faster but I still prefer home premium
