He goes over the different kinds of padding you'll need, different stitches, and techniques. Stay tuned for part 4 and more interior how-to.

PLEASE do not be fooled into thinking this is easy he has a lot of experience, It's unfair and heartbreaking when people try and are told its easy but wonder why its not working for them, Practise is everything but you will need a few interiors under your belt to make something half decent, and deep pockets, You must use an industrial walking foot or your seats will fall apart, great video though

Fantastic concise explanation of a French seam!
@miaandersen8731
@miaandersen8731 5 ай бұрын
Except it’s not a French seam. French seams would be horrible for upholstery. Also the reversal at the beginning and end isn’t a lock stitch either. The type of stitch a sewing machine like that makes at any time is a lock stitch.

Awesome video. Here is a question... Is there an industrial machine that has great variable speed control? The machines I have worked with are so twitchy. They don't have the slow speed control that I would like for short precise stitch lines. You have a new subscriber. All the best neal Port Charlotte Fla

you are looking for a servo motor on a sewing machine, more costly but fine tuning the speed. you can dial in the speed and it only goes that fast no matter how much the pedal is depressed. The other style is a clutch type motor. those run the more you push on the pedal the faster the machine will run. I highly recommend a Juki DNU-1541 machine for an industrial sewing machine. They a super reliable and will sew any material you put under them. I am old school and use a clutch motor my self, but been using for 15years and very used to it.

If I am going to sewing your so called " French Seam ", I will certainly back the two stitches with a TWELL tape on the wrong side to reinforce. This twill tape will strengthen the joint stitch between the two piece of vinyl material thus reduce the pressure / tension of the joint stitch. One more thing, the genuine " French Seam " is to roll or fold over the material at least one time when stitching ! !
