How far can you get in the PHYSICAL Simon game?
@JeffTheHokie
@JeffTheHokie 9 ай бұрын
I don't have the physical console, but I got up to 110 rounds on a 3x3 variant. I play Simon for profit as a professional gambler. If you live in a state with Pace-o-matic "skill games" (glorified slot machines) they have a built-in side game based on Simon. After a losing spin, you can play "follow me" a Simon-like game but with a 3X3 grid. If you can get through 20 rounds, you get your money back for that spin. I play this over and over at the 5 dollar level until I land on a winner (which sometimes takes hours) and when I do it's all profit.

wow, its really amazing what you can do with your memory with memory techniques, but did you know that the quran is the most memorised book in the world, and over 200 million people on this planet right now have memorised it. Without memory techniques in a language most of them don't even understand. Can you use memory techniques to memorise the quran. will you except the challenge

you could also encode every 2 colors into a single letter, that'd mean you have 16 different letters, but this means you have 4 colors in 1 word, but of course if you have bigger number systems, you could get your data compacted even further

Me and my friends made a system that encodes 3 colors to a word thats easy to visualize then you just make some sort of story to rember it.

I did this in a different way. I just asigned a number from 1 to 4 to each button and then made a story adding every part with the new press, I reached 32 and then I got bored but I'm sure I could've kept going.

Hi, do you reuse your memory palaces for different context? If so, is there a limit to it? For example over 3 times the same memory palace for different things is too much?

Mr. Nelson, i was wondering if training my memory for numbers and letters (i have letter system too) for roughly 2 hours (each takes me 1 hour) for 185 memory locations (like i reiterate 185 memory locations first for numbers and then letters) is harmful? i heard stories about practicing blindfold chess (which is essentially heavy visualization like memory training) makes people go insane and so on. Thanks.

I totally used to do this with numbers back in the day. I’ve always been a numbers guy, so I used G=1, R=2, Y=3, B=4. My sister wouldn’t play Simon with me, because I always crushed her. 😂

Are you aware of memory techniques that would work for someone with aphantasia (can't picture things in my mind) I have a fairly good memory but have only been exposed to memory tech that utilizes visualization (i.e. your item association in this video or the all too familiar memory palace). I try to ask anyone talking about memory or memory techniques specifically, raw memory has gotten me far but systems have always evaded me.
@Eli-el7mr
@Eli-el7mr 9 ай бұрын
Fellow aphantasia brain here! This is very general advice that i've seen, but its been fairly useful so far: -If you can navigate a house, you can still use the loci method, because your brain still knows the layout even if it cant picture things well(or even at all) -use larger swaths of each location per image, and use big items to associate with(bed in a bedroom, kitchen island in the kitchen, dinning room table,etc) -make your images BIG and obvious, and spend a lot of time building the skill to add as much sensory detail as possible, so your brain can try to make those associations more easily in the future -take your time building each location. For reference, it took me 15-20 minutes just to get mild details about my mailbox at my childhood home. But now that ive built it out, the details stick(even if i cant see them, i know the details are there, just like you know what side your bed faces from the door or you know where the light switch is for your living room) For reference, im not saying you have to "see" these things. I cant see anything at all, but my brain can still UNDERSTAND those things. So even if i cant imagine Einstein juggling chainsaws on my front porch, i know what Einstein looks like, i know that juggling means theres probably one chainsaw in each hand and one "floating" overhead, and i know what my front door looks like. So my brain can put the information there and understand that, even if it cant see it very well. But for me, I have to think about the chainsaws roaring, the gas burning, Einstein has to be making a facial expression ive seen before(tongue sticking out) and unfortunately i cant add motion or momentum so the image must be still. And he is in black and white because i cant imagine what color his clothes or hair or skintone is. BUT IT WORKS! Its just harder for us. But we can do it, just keep working hard at it and take your time. Good luck!

@@Eli-el7mr I really appreciate this. I know EXACTLY what you mean. I think I honestly just gave up on it. Change it from seeing an image to remembering a fake moment in time using familiar objects with all 5 senses engaged. I'm gonna try this for sure.

I'm not an average person??? How kind. :3 I'd disagree with you, but I've recently upgraded my memorization skills thanks to your videos and now I have 60 subclasses of the Dewey Decimal System in my brain thus far (admittedly I'm not taking that much time to work on this memorization project, I'm just spending some quality time with 10 subclasses per day coming up with my mnemonics and then proceeding to mostly ignore the project for the rest of the day until I remember it exists and then seeing if I can remember the 10 that I added to my mind palace earlier that day and the answer is usually yes). I think probably the average person does not have 60 subclasses of the Dewey Decimal System memorized. I will eventually have them all and then I will destroy my coworkers in the Library Games if they ever decide to do another one.

hey genius, your "technique" is more complex than just remembering the sequence.
@NelsonDellis
@NelsonDellis 2 ай бұрын
Whatever works for you if it can get you high scores just the same 👍🏻 For most people though, just “remembering the sequence” won’t get them very far. And if they actually manage to get far, chances are they probably did some variation of what I’m describing in the video anyways, albeit maybe somewhat intuitively. That, or they got a really easy sequence. Using a technique like the one in the video will allow you to consistently get a high score, no matter the difficulty of the sequence. And…(and this is the cool part) you can practice using it to keep getting higher and higher scores. Just playing around casually at first, I was getting in the 30s, after a few days I was getting in the 50s. I eventually was able to max out the game to 99. In short, having a reliable system, or technique, is more reliable in the long run. But hey, whatever works for you. I don’t know you. You’re probably a “genius” yourself.
