Join me and my loyal poodle and friend Jaws facet gems from all over the world on my trusty Australian Faceting machine called 'The Facetstar". In this video you will see me facet Spessartite Garnet, which has become the viewers choice. So I dedicate the "king of the Garnet family" to all those who requested that I facet such a gem. Take care.

Beautiful stone, cut very nicely. That Facetstar machine is gorgeous. I wish they were available here in the US. BTW: I love the cleanliness of your machine... I'm a stickler for having a clean machine. You've got me interested in Spessartite Garnet now. Time to go shopping. LOL Thank you for the excellent video.

Spessartite gems are one of my favorite items to look for at auctions. Getting a nice under valued one feels like such a win. I wish more spess was available as well crafted as yours. Most are windowed ovals, cut for size to maximize profit over beauty as it is for business. Always great to see Jaws
@VintageTimeGems
@VintageTimeGems 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, I'm with you. I wish more Spess was available, but I don' t think that will be the case unless a huge source is found. It seems that each new source is depleted in no time at all. I would think that in decades to come spess will one of the most sought after gems along with many others.

Hessonite is another nice gem in the garnet family that has nice copper orange tones. I've found it difficult to get large pieces worth faceting. Spessatite is similar, as you have to be content to facet smaller gems as the rough material is not that large.

I know that after a while you must get tired of the same format and none us of us can imagine your frustration with all the retakes you and every youtuber must do to put out a clean product but we like your voice it's very soothing which is nice to hear after a hard days work. Please narrate more not less. I would like to give a tremendous thank you for all your hard work and I hope youtube is compensating you well for your efforts. You may want to consider merchandise if you need more money, a lot of youtubers sign up with companies who do all the work and all you have to is promote the merchandise and you get a cut of the profits, I think a teeshirt with jaws on it would be a hoot.
@VintageTimeGems
@VintageTimeGems 5 жыл бұрын
Actually, there are not too many retakes. As the art form of gem cutting requires perfection, so most of the footage is usually done in one take shots. I was hoping to do a Bloopers vid, but I don't have too many blooper scenes. It's the editing and adding music plus narration that takes time. It seems that narration style has become more popular with viewers. However, at times it's also nice for viewers to just watch without being bombarded by a voice. So I try to mix things up. The intro of this vid had quite a bit of narration. But I do hear what you saying. I'm not sure if people would buy a Jaws T shirt, but it would be funny.
