you don't want to remove 100 percent of defects. the ones that prove to be stubborn, leave them, or you'll blow through all your paints clear coat desperately trying to fix it further creating more damage. just accept what a couple passes with a compound followed by the same with a polish will drastically improve the outcome. I emphasize this with all my customers that chasing a blemish free surface will eventually leave you with a ruined one. get it to 80 90 percent better. then coat it with whatever you like to protect it. done. 👍 great videos. thanks for sharing your expertise

As a brand new mobile detailer, I cant tell you enough on how valuable your KZfaq channel has become for me. You have a way of teaching that truly engage's the viewer and you truly have a talent for teaching in general. To be able to spend a week in your shop learning and observing along with the ability to ask specific questions would be a dream for me. But you channel is close enough. Thank you for your content and taking the time necessary to create it. It's no easy task I'm sure! But it's well appreciated!

Thanks. I plan on doing this to my F150 and applying a ceramic coating afterwards. I don't have many noticable swirls unless the lighting is perfect and I am looking at the exact correct angle. I believe this is mainly because I do not use circular motions when I wash, all fine scratches are front to back and they are very light. But I definitely want a nice fresh layer of clear for the ceramic coating to stick to so hopefully it will last a long time

This video helped me in a few ways... I've been running a light cutting pad with light compound. Not really getting the results I'm after. I might go medium cut with the light pad, as it seemed this respray on the car didn't like the medium pad with the medium cut compound (I got abrasion worse than wet sanding at 1000 rpm and pre-wet the pad before the compound (always keeping the pad flat and at a 90 w/ light pressure)). I'm considering buying a paint depth gauge to know what I have to work with and how much I'm taking away. Anyways, back to the point. I wasn't sure if I'd need to go back over lightly with the light cut to bring down the micro scratching for the polishing stage. This video cleared that up. I've also came to the conclusion my cutting compound is too old (Meguiars). I can only do half of the working section you did and half of the passes before it wants to dry on me (w/ a cleanish pad, using the same amount of product). Funny thing is I've always had black cars with decent paint. I inherited a classic car from my father. It has a two stage paint on there, and it's been the most finicky paint I've worked with. I've always been a DIY detailer, so I haven't worked with a ton of different finishes.
