Here for the algorithm! When I first learned deadlifts, I don't think they were called RDLs and I had no idea what that stood for, but I was in high school, so we just called them "bend and snaps". The first variation I ever learned was single-leg dead lifts using a resistance band anchored to something heavy, which are VERY fun!

I have ever only done dumbbell RDL as that is the only equipment I have access to but honestly I love it :)

My favourite are one legged ones with a dumbbell (balance move) and also RDLs. I do like barbell ones. I feel them in my glutes and hamstrings so much more than the currently popular hip thrust.

This was really helpful and practical. I don’t love weight lifting but have been trying to do it consistently for years to help with bone building etc. I’d discontinue dead lifts bc they seemed to bother my low back even though I thought I had a flat back. Gonna try reintroducing it with these tips. Thanks

These are such helpful videos. I really enjoy an RDL. I have been enjoying honing that technique and very pleased when I’m able to (safely) go up in weight. I used to think I was “feeling them in my low back” in a bad way because people would say that a lot and I got in my head about it, but I realised I was never actually in any pain at all and I was just feeling the result of working my muscles in that way for the first time and there was any concerning issue. I’d love to try deadlifting with a trap bar some time, but I don’t have access to one sadly. A side note: Kevin has been doing a great job on filming!

I remember all your original deadlift tips from the old video (like "imagine you need to close the door using just your butt" or "hold your dumbells very close to your legs, like you're trying to shave them!") and they helped me A LOT, so I'm excited to learn from an even more experienced Justina. : ) I came here just to say that my favorite DL variation would be...single leg deadlifts! I love a good trap bar DL, but for simplicity and training at home, nothing beats KB variations-DL, RDL, suitcase DL, and 1-arm b-stance DLs are my faves. Hope you’re having a fabulous vacation!

Favorite deadlift variation... RLD! I like that it can be modified to bias more the glutes or the hamstrings. Also a one leg/kick-stance variation is also one of my top picks! P.S. Enjoy your vacation!

I am terrified of Deadlifts as I have lower back issues, and have had flare ups when trying to deadlift. But for some reason I am fine with single leg Deadlifts. Will give the kettlebell bilateral variation a try though. Thank you for another great video 😊

Should you touch/put down the weight on the floor between each deadlift when using a barbell? I never do when I am using a barbell and am unsure whether I am doing something wrong...Enjoy your well deserved vacation, love your videos!

totally depends! if you're looking to lift for more reps, you can just give the floor a little tap. taking a full stop at the bottom makes it harder!

How do you do a deadlift with minibands? For several months, I'll be moving around a lot and I'm training with minibands only, and it's been really difficult for me to put together a routine since there isn't much information available, or at least it's not clear to me. I would love for you to make a video about a good workout split or what are the basic and necessary exercises to incorporate with minibands. Thank you!

I’m not sure if you’ll be able to answer this but I just did the kettle bell exercise in front of a mirror for the first time and noticed my butt winks at the bottom. Does that mean I lack enough range of motion in my hips to do this correctly?

I talked about that a bit in the video with checking your form in terms of your shin angle (keeping a soft bend in the knee), but if your form is perfect then I would recommend seeing a physical therapist!

I wish I could do a reverse fly half as good as I can deadlift. I can go really heavy on a deadlift, without sacrificing form. But with a reverse fly, ten pounds, with crappy form is a struggle. 🤣
