How to deal with a layoff. This probably isn't the question you want to be searching for on KZfaq right now. But, nevertheless, you've found this video. Getting laid off is an extremely stressful time. You not only have to manage yourself so you can prepare for your next job search. But you also have to manage other people and the lack of support you might get if you've been laid off at work.
There are a lot of videos on KZfaq about how to prepare for the job search when you are laid off. But this isn't that kind of video. This WILL video help you deal with the emotional side of being laid off. Dealing with yourself and the reason why you were fired. Dealing with other people and how they look down on you because you lost your job. Dealing with the uncertain future you face. And dealing with your present - how should you spend your time now you don't have a job.

So if you're currently dealing with a layoff and you want a supportive voice, this video is for you.

Excellent video and spot on. Unfortunately, plenty of institutions are still based on an old 'leadership' model, meaning a formal or de facto pyramid model wherein one manager controls the other; a system that lacks transparency for its employees so it is easier to control them; as well as a system that is founded on the principle of competition rather than collaboration as competitive employees who are afraid to speak up are less likely to unite themselves or to demand a change of the system. I like to believe that (some) extroverted 'leaders' are more susceptable to such managerial style, especially when they are status driven. So, I also endorse your other video on the importance of accepting that introverts can be good leaders as well. It is hard to bounce back from a layoff, but a true leader embraces a growth mind-set and seizes tough life events as an opportunity to show resilience and to continue cultivating his/her moral principles that will serve as guidance for important leadership decisions. Keep up the good work!

Thank you so much. You are so right about some workplaces that use the top-down, command approach and don't care about their team. It does cause people to be afraid to speak up which is a real shame. I'm glad you liked my other video on how introverts can be leaders. Introverts truly have amazing qualities that are great for leadership, especially in the turmoil today. Thank you so much for watching and for your support!

Essential points 🌟 Kara I want to know how much of the lies or half truths can we say in interviews or at work in general ? As many people do it perfectly for larger gains & to hide the flaws..or should we be incredibly honest about everything ? Do interviewers/boss like the honest people more or is it smart people..

This is a great question Mohib and a good answer depends very much on the specific situation and information you want/not want to divulge. I think in many cases, honesty is always best however there are times when you will want to keep some information to yourself. If the information can damage your professional reputation or chances of getting a job/promotion, then you might want to think about not divulging 100%. You don't have to tell your employer everything about your life. It's important to know where the boundaries are.
