I deal with them by just putting on the shroud and muffled footsteps talisman and crawling past. They’ll only try to come after you if you touch their yellow bellflowers if you do that. 😂 I ran through the entire woods (in crawl mode of course) without attracting anything other than a single rat that I accidentally fell on, very helpful in that place. If anyone ever struggles to kill those things, just stealth your way through it. 😁

The legacy dungeon at the end is ass like less effort was put into it than castle morne. Honestly these guys were the highlight of the abyss and the boss was neat.

Single most atmospheric area in the game. Looks amazing too.

One of my favorite areas in the game. The fact that you have to find a hidden wall in a completely off-path area (Thank you online messages...Though tbf I was this close to just figuring it out myself, but the messages were right there sooooo I have no idea if I'd figure it out in hindsight) plus being likely the final map piece that you'll find...PLUS being hidden behind an extremely vertical random dungeon. And then seeing all the trees and ominous messages on the ground...Then seeing these monsters which you don't know how to deal with until you read that note (Or you could try parrying from the start I guess/read a player message)... PLUS not being able to summon Torrent because he's terrified. Easily one of my favorite areas in the entire game even if it's totally empty.

Honestly, just using the silence talisman and assassin's gambit and you can just walk right on by. I saw the non-player messages and got them as a backup, then discovered the entire forest it pretty much void of anything but rats and goats. Really disappointed.

shattershard arrows work great for this too, you can fire it off into the distance and theyll go running after it. they take ages to just stare at the impact site, too. completely trivialized the section with two of them patrolling

Yeah, I really loved it. The landscape coupled with the messages had me crawling through the whole area until I knew what I was hiding from.

@PrattlingPate_ Ah ok, maybe it was cut content that was cheated in. If you happen to find a picture or video with someone wearing it please lmk! Would definitely like to get it if it's a legitimate thing. Though if it is, it'll probably be rare because there's a limited amount of them since they don't respawn.

@@ImGonnaRageQuitThey don’t respawn? Interesting. I took a look at the wiki, and it says that a specific one drops a talisman, but people are saying they got the talisman from a different one. So not sure where the Helm/mask would come from. I’m on PC so it’s entirely possible it was cheated.

horror? There's nothing scary about these guys. They're just a boring nuisance, frankly. I guess one could give them props for trying to mix things up a bit, but they failed miserably with this whole area.

When you put it that way, maybe it's not so bad that they're killable. I disliked that fact at first, because it sort of takes away from the tension. Especially since they don't respawn.

Moreover, there's an ingredient in there called Winter-lantern Fly.

I love you. This made killing them/figuring out the parrying times 100x easier. Just lured them to the nearby roots and eventually hit the parry now that they didn't instakill me with the grab Thank you!

Yeah they suck. I'd rather not be able to kill them at all tbh cause they carry items and I went through a lot of them to see if they had anything other the grapes. Doesn't seem so. The first had a talisman so I thought maybe one would drop their little cane weapon. Sucked dying over and over cause if I missed the parry, I was dead from one grab

Carian retaliation on brass shield worked fine for me. I wasn’t 100% but killed all these guys without too many deaths.

You know, just like all the other grab moves 🫠

Just use the buckler then? Or a dagger for style points. Or even a curved sword.

I suck at parrying too but manged to kill all of them but died so many times trying to kill them they are annoying.

Yeah I'm not sure if it was meant to be truly unkillable and fromsoft patched the parry, can't do a single parry either

I only had to go through 2 of those guys to reach the boss in the area so there's that. Still was a pain in the ass though. They really introduced a survival horror game mode with the dlc ☠️

Only an idiot would think that such a cool implementation of an enemy that completely shakes things up is a chore.

I didn't parry them on my first playthrough. You're intended to stealth past them

They put down messages telling you to sneak through the grass. Only really need to parry them if you want the Talisman that boosts AR whenever madness procs nearby

So don't, how would your character deal with an enemy they can't hit? If it's to try and hit them then your character would just be an item on the floor for the next, more humble adventurer

If you spent 2 hours trying to fight something the game was gracious enough to leave a bunch of warnings not to fight them then your problem isn't annoying enemies, it's that you've become arrogant in your characters ability to beat anything as long as you try hard enough. Even your fearless horse who helps you fight giants and gods was afraid of the madness, perhaps you should learn to be too

If we would listen to what the game is saying to us, you would not even explore that area. not to mention the game tells us that they cant be defeated in combat.... which was a lie as seen in the video.... there is also a note in the beginning of the area that says to turn back and not enter the area. Did you listen to that? Hell no. You are the Protagonist, of course you would go in and explore, there was no tarnished elden lord and nobody thought a tarnished could do it, if im not wrong you got told multiple times that you cant do it. yet here we stand 4 years after release and most that tried became one or stopped trying. its just bad game design you can call that whatever but i call it as it is. eldenring is not a stealth game and expecting this from your players after you toppled gods that stood once at the peak is just missing the mark. Maybe at the beginning of the game but not after beating the game several times and dont get me started at your ghostly companion. so it can kill giants, gods and abominations, but it has claustrophobia? cause last time i checked you could not summon it in Crypts, Castles or other small designed areas. even against the eldenbeast you could not summon it. but now you can, last patch made it possible, cause they realized that its a boring bullshit fight where you just run after the thing 80% of the time. lets not make it more than it is "but in the message you call it it says its afraid". Yeah big WOW, the real reason for it is, if you could call your horse down there you would just run past everything, and cause you cant you have to deal with it. why cant you call it in thight spaces, well cause camera would break the 4th wall. "you've become arrogant in your characters ability" yeah fucking pathetic, how could you after being the strongest being in that world that changed the law of said world, toppled beings a multitude more powerful then you, multiple times (in case it isnt apparent, the sentence is sarcasm). i love that game, its a good game, but that is just bullshit and can't be defended, dlc has many flaws, this is one of them.
