Scott Anderson is an absolute beast! Scary power. You can hear the ball label revving on the lane! Great video. One suggestion though. I see this on a lot of instructional videos. And this is just nick picking on my part so take it in humor. For lots of people Bowling Jargon makes no sense and it is not beneficial in an instructional video to use it. "Move your eyes" How can I move my eyes? They are fixed in my head. "The ball is reading the Lane." Bowling balls can read? Can they also write? "The break point." I don't want my ball to break, I spent $250 for it! "Lane is breaking down." So we have to move to another lane since it is not working? "They are blowing the lane up." Should we take cover? "The lane is tight." The lane is a cheapskate? And finally, what does the word Transition mean? Carrydown, less oil, something else? Just a thought to help the newbies understand.

That is figurative language. It is commonly used in English to be descriptive or add voice to language. If someone is that much of a bowling noob, they should either be watching simpler videos on the basics of bowling or take the time to look up the bowling terminology used so they can grow as a bowler. It is common bowling lingo every bowler should know to better understand the game.

@nordattack
@nordattack 10 ай бұрын
@@ScottAndersonBowling At the beginner level all of them are serious. No one knows what this jargon means. If you think about it for a second, it really is a bunch of senseless terms with no intuitive meaning. Bowlers learn the meaning once they join the club and learn the handshake, but if you want to teach the widest audience, just speak in simple English.
@nordattack
@nordattack 10 ай бұрын
@@willjames6437 Disagree. The idea is to build bowling viewership on national TV and try to revive the sport and club Jargon is one of those barriers. I have tried to get new viewers involved in watching bowling and they complain to me saying they have no idea what the commentators are saying. This is especially true when Kelly Kullick is the tech person, she just talks right over peoples heads. At least Randy try's to make it somewhat understandable to the common folk. I am an engineer and one of the jobs of an engineer is to communicate complex ideas to non-engineers for understanding. Bowling is the same way. If we want to teach and educate, we must start with the common language and as bowlers gain understand they can start to adopt the silly jargon we have developed for our dying sport.

If Bowlero Corp centers (or other centers) decide to transition to string pins, what impact will this AI core have on future ball releases?!what is your opinion on how this may impact the PBA Tour?
@ScottAndersonBowling
@ScottAndersonBowling 10 ай бұрын
I think the AI core and technology that adds to more hitting power becomes more relevant as string pins are implemented. As far as the PBA goes, I’m not totally sure what they’re going to do with the future of the sport and the integrity of the sport as free fall pins start to go away.

What would make the 2+1 easier for me? I usually like to look at like a solid object like the arrows and or dots above the foul line. I’ve tried looking at an individual board but it’s just not the same and very inconsistent for me
@ScottAndersonBowling
@ScottAndersonBowling 10 ай бұрын
Rule of a house shot is to line everything up with the 6-pin. So when you move, draw a line with the 6-pin and try to make your breakpoint in line with the target you look at (dots or arrows) and the 6.

Question for Scott: has your backswing historically been so short, or is it an adjustment following an injury? I only ask because a guy of your size and power typically has a much higher backswing. Just curious. P.S.: what’s the wrist brace you’re using and why that one?
@ScottAndersonBowling
@ScottAndersonBowling 10 ай бұрын
Backswing historically got shorter and shorter due to using less muscle. I always felt more muscle brought the ball back too quickly and too high. So my compact swing is a product of me trying to be more relaxed over the years.
@clowny2396
@clowny2396 10 ай бұрын
@@ScottAndersonBowling I'm an older guy and have too high of a backswing. If I swing the ball at home (no release) in the basement, I can keep my backswing pretty low easily. When I get to the lanes using the same ball, my backswing is now much, much higher than I'd like. I've worked with a coach for a long time a few years ago and he cooled me down on using muscle, but probably not enough. Maybe I ought to just try to stop my swing right at my butt or a little more and see how that goes. If my swing is lower, I have much better results. High backswings kill my game. Any commetns? Thanks!
@tylers_bowling_pb
@tylers_bowling_pb 10 ай бұрын
@clowny2396 a thing I have found is where your starting point in you setup with your ball. If you lower your ball placement it can help keep your ball lower because you are giving the ball less potential engery to get pulled down that creates a higher back swing. Another thing could be you are simply thinking about it and trying to use your muscle, just relax your push away and swing. That should help your timing hard to say exactly without video
@ScottAndersonBowling
@ScottAndersonBowling 10 ай бұрын
@@clowny2396 sometimes a higher swing can be deceiving because more spine tilt can give the illusion of a higher swing. I’m very feel-oriented. So I can feel my muscle pulling at the ball and I do my best to eliminate that every single shot. Work on some drills with less steps in the approach to help focus on relaxing the swing. The less variable to focus on, the easier it is to focus on what you want to change.
@clowny2396
@clowny2396 10 ай бұрын
@@ScottAndersonBowling Thank you Scott. It's not an illusion in my case. I have some spine tilt but not much. I think I'm feel-oriented as well; however, my feel is more of what my hand is doing more than anything else regarding the swing. I have done the one step drill and no step drill. My swing seems to be pretty good. A little over a year ago I switched from 5 steps to 4 steps and initially that seemed to help and my average improved as well. Improving things at later times in life is probably difficult to achieve, but I'm still trying to do it. For now I'm going to work on paying attention to my swing and attempt to do similar swings that I can do here at home in the basement. Maybe I just get too exicted on the lane or something. I understand that if you keep things simple there's less chance to make mistakes. I've got to relax more...

I believe this ball will actually be best for some one with low rev rate. It will allow you to move a little further left because it will pick up the front part of the lane quickly. But if you bowl in a drier center this will not be a good option because it does need oil.
