At the top of Willows End you’ll have to fight against Shriek, the final boss of the game.
Shriek has 3 Phases with each having mostly similar attacks.
In her first Phase she will have a set of attacks she will use to make your final victory that much more difficult. Ive found that the best way to defeat Shriek was using the small windows of time to close in on her and do some minor ranged damage.
When she first appears she will slam down on the ground, so make sure you run or dash away safely.
When she shakes her head like this she’s about to shoot a blue laserbeam from her beak which she shoots across the screen. Avoid this by running, dashing, or using the launch ability away from the laser.
Whenever she flies up and off screen, she will slam down on the ground. You can tell where she will land by the purple haze emerging from the ground. Dash away to avoid her. Sometimes when she lands will unleash a devastating roar that has an area of effect damage, so keep your distance.
She also shoots homing projectiles from her beak, redirect them back to Shriek and don’t let them touch the ground.
Whenever she sweeps her claw across the floor make sure you keep your distance to avoid damage.
When she disappears and flies sideways across the screen in the background she’s about to do a dash attack from the side. You can tell by the direction she is flying to where she will come from. It is also shown by the dark smoke appearing at the edge of the screen. Launch yourself in the air to avoid her dash attack.
Dash away from her when she is lifting up her featherless bone and smashing it into the ground. Avoid the following blue waves by jumping and dashing.
Between her 1st and 2nd phase Shrieks destroys the ground. It will collapse and a small chase sequence will begin. Make a run for it and use Launch and your other evasive moves to make it across the collapsing platforms.
Shriek will mostly use the same attacks, but with small variations. For example, She won’t shake her head anymore when shooting the blue laser, but instead will hover above the ground for a moment and turns her head towards the direction the laser will start.
Her Dash attack will also include a diagonal dash, again you can launch yourself away.
Another variation is when she does her groundslam from above. She performs it after immediately flying off screen and attacks three times in a row.
Her wingsmash looks similar to her Laser attack, but the difference here is, she wont move her head around and instead flies up a bit before smashing down. Keep on the sides of the platform and use your launch ability to stay airborne to avoid damage from her wings.
She adds a couple of new attacks to her arsenal in this phase, so be aware.
In one attack She lets it rain down projectiles after landing in the background. Avoid these or redirect yourself from one projectile to another, to avoid damage.
Another new attack is when Shriek flies towards the side of the platform and shoots multiple targets at you. By simply using your launch ability you can avoid these. You can also redirect them towards her to do some damage.
Use your launch ability to get airborne and avoid Shriek when she flies towards you from the background.
Her third and final phase begins when she has around 15%. She will let it rain projectiles indefinitely. She then flies towards you from the background and continues to do a set of groundslams, which now will collapse the floor beneath her. Stay on the right side of the platform to avoid her groundslams. When the last platform has collapsed she will followup with multiple dash attacks. Use the projectiles that are raining down to navigate through and keep yourself airborne while avoiding her dash attacks. Assign the Thorn Spirit Shard if you have trouble avoiding her dash attacks, so you can still return some damage whenever she hits you. When shes done dashing and appears from the side use your arrows or redirect some of the projectiles towards her.
