Best to teach your girl how to protect herself. You won’t be with her every minute of every day, so she shouldn’t depend solely on you for her safety.

You teach her... blocks, counters, head pulls, arm bars, chokes, headbutts... kicks and strikes. Thats how you protect them.

I was walking towards my boyfriend's house and was only a few metres from his home when two guys approach me and started grabbing me and trying to take me to their car. I tried fighting them, but it didn't work. I know nothing about self defense, and I'm only 5'2... Then, I begged, but they didin't care. So, I scream really loud and luckly my boyfriend heard me and came outside. He started to shout at them as he was walking towards us so then one of them turned to him to fight while the other was still grabbing me. I hate violence and I would do anything to avoid experiencing it, but it was because my boyfriend has a black belt in karate and practices different martial arts for self defense that he was able to help me and prevent a terrible outcome. Since then I started to watch your channel! Thank you Nick for making this videos and help us all to be safer!

Worst things I've seen is once a fight starts the guy's GF tries to break it up by grabbing her boyfriend and trying to pull him away (sometimes yelling something about how she doesn't want him arrested). This leaves the guy open to attack while his GF is grabbing at him. I suggest men have talks with their SO so that they know what to do if something like in the video occurs. Of course, tell them that they are in no way to try to break it up, get between them, or grab at you to stop it. They want to grab you because they know you and know you won't hurt them. It is a dangerous instinct some have.

I've not watched one of your videos in months but it's good to see you being consistent insomuch as emphasizing: awareness; hands up; space and distance; avoidance; movement; and escape. Edit: Having a plan ahead of time is also important and well worth noting. Talk to your girl and make sure ya'll have a plan.

I love the "hand on the back" technique. You shared this on an old video years ago. It frees up my hands and keeps me informed kinesthetically of her location. I recommend telling your partner that if a situation like this comes up, get behind me, stay behind me, and keep a hand on my back as much as possible so I always know where you are.

I was at a fireworks show once. A couple was standing minding their own business. A group of hooligans standing behind them decided to sucker punch the guy for no reason. He didn't respond because he knew they were outnumbered. The goons punched the guy a second time. The woman turned to him and asked, are you gonna take that? Then she punched one of the goons. The couple got smashed after that. It was one of the most disgusting displays of human behavior I've ever witnessed. Why those clowns decided to attack that couple for no reason is mind boggling.

I have been in these situations a few times. Good advice. Back up create space and make sure to keep everyone in your peripheral vision. This story is a completely different scenario because it was in a bus station and we were seated with the guys standing over us. We were teenagers at the time. Some group of assholes tried to cause a fight... saying everything they could to get a reaction out of me. I was just ignoring them, they carried on for about 20 minutes at which point I realised security were useless. They got frustrated that I wasn't reacting and then threatened to hit my girlfriend... her eyes welled up with tears I remember. She really isn't used to violence, she grew up with only sisters and it's just not her nature. This obviously pissed me off, my adrenaline levels must have been crazy high because as I stood up I headbutted one of them who went down and then I smacked his friend who stumbled and I pinned him against the wall. (Honestly I was debating whether I should bite his nose off at that point, I was that high on adrenaline... you think some crazy savage stuff and it's usually stupid too) That's when I realised that they had a 3rd guy who wasn't nearby he ran up and smacked me in the back of the head. I dropped his friend (the guy I had against the wall, I wasn't just holding him there I was smashing his head into the wall) he was actually crying and sobbing like a baby. I got that guy to the ground who punched me in the back of the head, but the first guy was up by this point. He booted me in the head 3 times. I got off his friend to go after him and they all bolted. Security never even turned up. People in the station just watched as three guys attacked us. That's nowhere near the worst story though.

My approach....at no time put your girlfriend or kids in this situation, at all costs. Avoidance is the key. The chances of being successful in a multiple person attack is nil to none. I’m old, I carry, I don’t go anywhere where this situation may pose itself.

Getting them in one line so they walk in eachother's way is also an option, as is yelling. Shouting "fire" will work great like Nick said in an older video.

Hey, thanks for the video, honestly I wanna say that today me and my partner went to a place to chill it was quite place but suddenly 3 random strangers came up and ask us to leave I didn't argue anything because I don't want her to get in any trouble. I know it was my mistake I shouldn't have taken her. We were just leaving and I asked her to walk away towards the main road because I had to take my bike and they were calling us. I thought I should have argued with them but now I understand my decision was good to just stay away from situations because it will not only make you in trouble but also your partner in danger.

This is obviously an imminent threat and defensive mode should not even be considered. The defender should already be in offensive mode since you don't need three guys to approach at the same time to ask directions or the time so that's the tip-off This scenario within the first second is a clear and present danger and needs to be treated as such. Strike first, ask questions later. The one closest goes down first either with a side-strike to the knee or a throat punch. Way too much time given only opens you up to more danger. Lightning fast perception of threat is paramount and crossing the street in a normal situation would have occured at least 50 ft away, not when they are close enough when you'll be moving on the diagonal. Could be refined as a potential self-defense scenario a little closer to reality.

Where was the part where you utilize close-quarters-combat firearm techniques and shoot them all with 3-5 rounds at close quarters before they can react? Three targets, in close proximity to themselves, that's easily three targets to engage with lethal force in under 4-5 seconds on average with training.

Holding your girlfriends hand while you are trying to defend her is some really bad advice. You only have one hand available while the three attackers have six. You need to have both hands available to really have any chance. If you are being surrounded there is no need or time to negotiate. You need to strike hard / strike fast and most importantly strike first. Bullies are cowards and that is why they hang out in groups. You take the first one out and odds may be that the others retreat.

Make it a smart go in the streets because you can stop traffic that way a car will stop and someone will come out and help me
