When you say, tuck chin, do you mean look down at a 45 degree angle or pull your head back, as if you are trying to touch the wall with the back of your head

Love your teaching video by the way. Your videos are calm and relaxing to learn from. I am an adult never did learn how to swim as a child. Now that my children are learning how to swim, I think it is time for me to do the same, so that we can enjoy the ocean around us together. Question, for an adult like me who was never traumatized by water, do you think I should learn to tread water first so that I will be more comfortable to learn how to swim once I am able to or go straight to learn how to swimming first? Thanks.

Then, you would go into gliding, flutter kick, and afterwards you would start with treading water. Please learn how to do sculling before learning the eggbeater kick. Enjoy the process!!! ❤️

I though I was quite a good swimmer as I could swim 1500 meters at a time.But because of your lessons(actually thanks to your lessons), I realized I was just a beginner.

The ability to swim 1,500 meters is a big achievement! When I teach swimming to adults, my main concern is to get them comfortable in the water and to make swimming easy. Treading water and floating are a must. Once the basics become second nature, then work on endurance and speed can be added.

Hi, Is it necessary to use kick board for beginners as m not comfortable using board! I tends to lose focus while using kick board! I started swimming 14 days back n others beginners started with me are doing very well with board! Whereas m very uncomfortable with board! Please help

Hello Sushma, Here is a playlist, where I teach my student, Akram, swimming from zero and a fear of water, to him being comfortable in deep open water: Swimming Lessons In Open Water. From Fear Of Water To Swimming In Deep Water kzfaq.info/sun/PLlni5Zb5tjJmZhWlFRqkpHdQOdy_eNzGC In these lessons, you can see a progression from breathing to floating, to gliding with a kick board to kicking with a kick board and beyond. There is a lot of strength training involved in the water and on dry land (I show very little of dry land work on camera). Please watch and let me know if you find your answer.

for some reason when i do this and try to lift my head for air...my body sinks a bit...am i lifting up to much maybe

Because a human head is very heavy, it is normal for the body to sink a bit. Do make sure that as you lift your head, your shoulders stay relaxed in the water. Plus, make sure that you take only one fast deep breath. Please let me know if your shoulders coming up with your head is the problem.

Another thing, when you lift your head, make sure that you start kicking even harder and all of the muscles that hold your streamline position contract more.

Its like you're not even kicking while treading ,how do you achieve this?I can tread but i use the breasttroke kick as i find it easier .Eggbeater kick is really hard on my hips.Any tips so i can stop using so much energy while treading? NB:I have already watched your tutorial on treading water,its where i learnt sculling motion

About me not having to work hard for treading water. Keep in mind that I am wearing a 3mm wetsuit, it adds a lot of buoyancy. Plus, I do have years of practice behind me. As you probably know, the better you get at something, the easier it gets and the less energy you spend.
