A quick video on how I made a hop tea for a batch of APA I made using falconers flight hops. I was bottling the batch and incorporated it into my priming sugar solution but you could obviously just use hot water if you are packaging in a different way and add the solution to the rest of the beer.

Nice job pal, I'll give this a go myself. Could be a good option for 'no-chillers' to mimic steep/whirlpool hops, which is always the difficulty when 'no-chilling'

Cheers dude, another great vid. I need to try splitting my dry hop, and do half as a hop tea, as have only done a full replacement with a hop tea to date. In doing so I think I have lost some of the aroma a dry hop gives and a pure hop tea didn't add a noticeable amount of flavour (to an already hoppy beer).

Cheers Ali, I'd like to experiment with it more. Definitely need some sort of split batch to draw any firm conclusion. I think it would likely work better as a replacement for FO and late additions rather than dry hopping

It's difficult to find recipes like this online and I had a few questions if that's alright. Did you make your own priming sugar and if so, did you need more for this recipe? When you add that to the brewing bucket, does that contain only tea? Should this only finish in bottles or would it work in a glass fermenting container? Thank you! I apologize for asking so many questions.

Seems like a good idea right from the start. I would have tried it. Two weeks of conditioning? I'm half way through the batch by then. Cheers =)

Anything that keeps the excess crud, hops, what have you out of my bottling day is worth a shot. Do you think some french presses' filtration is more fine than others?

I'm sure some probably have finer filters than others but I haven't really looked into it tbh!

Hi, how much sugar did you use for the pint of water? Thank you

hi Nate, not totally sure as this was a while ago but was probably around 5g/L of beer being primed, looking at my notes this one was a 15L batch so it would have been around 75g I think

Top tip Richard, must give this a go. Just a couple of questions. Was that boiling priming syrup straight into the cafetière or did you let it cool to around 76-80oC? And was there any gelatine in the batch priming to make it drop out? Cheers man.

Cheers Steve, I don't think I bothered to measure the temperature so it was probably just off the boil, at that sort of quantity I reckon it drops fast enough for any bitterness extracted to be pretty negligible. I didn't use gelatine or any other finings but it cleared up a treat despite all that murk from the tea
