Advanced t-spins can be tough to approach when you are new to them, and are often seen as a collection of like 30 individual special techniques to learn. In this video, I'll explain the concepts that underpin a majority of advanced setups and provide a map on what order to learn them in.
=== Resources ===
FOUR.lol
four.lol/
The foremost resource on VS viable t-spin setups, openers, and techniques. Visit here first.
KezDaBez's Complete guide to TETR.IO
• A Complete Guide to TE...
A comprehensive guide on almost every individual concept that applies to modern competitive TETR.IO. A lot of t-spin setup guides in here as well!
Garbo's 60 second setups
• 60 Second Setups - Mid...
Not too much breadth here, but I still think these tutorials are very concise and well made. Definitely worth a watch if you want to learn the setups these videos are for :) (DT, STSD, TST tower)
Hard Drop Wiki
harddrop.com/wiki/Tetris_Wiki
Tread with caution, but there are some good articles here. The site is kind of an old library of general tetris knowledge, with a lot of info being outdated or pretty much useless for VS. It also makes no distinction between midgame t-spin techniques and openers. Articles for the specific techniques I mentioned on the tier list should be mostly fine, and it has some things that four.lol doesn't. For example, hamburger stacking (the specific tss donation, not just running it down 9-0) is not on four.lol, but sees a decent amount of use in keeping long B2B chains by top players.
Fourtris
github.com/fiorescarlatto/fou...
The program I use in my videos, lets you draw and the board, screenshot tetris boards to import them, and undo. An invaluable tool for analysis and slow practice.
An honorable mention is also bp.tali.software/, which is like a web version of fourtris, made by iitalics. (It's honestly more convenient to use than fourtris, but fourtris is a little more convenient for my video-making process)

MMC, for helping out with the tier list

davdav and sediment for making FOUR.lol which I grabbed an not insignificant amount of screnshots from...

Learning how to play tetris is hard. If you're trying to learn how to play tetris fast, this is a good guide! Whether you're getting started on TETR.IO, Puyo Puyo Tetris, or Tetris Effect, before you all try and learn how to do t-spins, downstack, or get stuck as an opener main spamming DT Cannon, Stickspin, Perfect Clears, or 4w, this is a must see guide on how to play tetris well (did I miss any keywords idk)

I missed an alt solution to one of the puzzles! On puzzle 2, width difference, you can actually set up 3 tspins with the pieces provided. Let's call it a bonus puzzle... EDIT: Ok, there's also technically a polymer solution to puzzle 4, donations cont. Take that as an extremely impractical bonus bonus puzzle. Thanks to octocallie for spotting these!

I’m not gonna lie, I don’t play Tetris that often. Not at all actually, because I never knew where to start. I just watched a few videos because my friend said he would totally beat my ass in Tetris and for a while I was motivated to prove him wrong (unsuccessfully). I’m just here to say that your voice is very pleasant to listen to

Thank you for this guide! This is teaching me how to focus on maintaining b2b instead of just a clean well. With enough practice I'll be able to get well above S rank while staying under 1 PPS so thank you for the guidance!!

Not sure how meaningful this is, coming from someone only just learning the game, but I think your guides are the highest quality ones out there. You fully analyze a concept, taking time to break it down into general theory while giving examples, but don’t drag on such that you overstay your welcome. I really admire your teaching style. On an unrelated note, does anyone know where I can find a learning-focused Tetris community? I’ve joined a couple of Discord servers but the ones I’ve found seem kind of dead. Was there some sort of decline in the popularity of modern Tetris over the past year or two? Anyhow, I don’t care what sort of format it is - Discord, forum page, whatever - so long as there are people I can learn from.

thank you! I think you’d be hard pressed to find a completely learning-focused community, but I’d maybe recommend MMC (modern mino community), which i linked in the description under shoutouts. They do events + are a pretty normal tetris discord server, but generally have the highest concentration of high level players who are usually willing to discuss concepts or review gameplay, if you post in the right places with a thoughtful message. The server owner bennxt also does coaching streams occasionally.
