You can't go to failure here, cause if you do you won't be able to rack the weight. Learned that the hard way.

@@gavinmiller8980 but why should your arms be completely dead? You’re supposed to be working the calves not the arms. Your arms are there for minimal support.

I think she meant that you have to feel the pain to really feel the work, of course, a full range movement is the key as she described, all the way up to squeeze the calf and all the way down to stretch it, otherwise it becomes in a waste of time and energy. This is a translated quote, sorry for my bad English.

stopping the momentum is the key, I almost always forget this in every lifting work out. thanks for emphasizing this once more!

Keep in mind, the Five stars are based on my needs for this item kzfaq.infoUgkxUHHotQRjIQnfuxEeVotlkHVYWH0DXZoS When I first bought the bike I was going to return it immediately. After trying it out for several days/weeks I came to realize it is actually perfect for WHY I bought it.This is not a workout, the resistance is, eh, it makes a bit of noise, not loud, and it isn’t very stable even with the mat. The mat certainly keeps the bike from sliding but nothing keeps the mat from sliding (if that makes any sense, lol). Mine is place on my hard wood floor. Maybe it would be better with a rug underneath??I sit for long hours for work and wanted something to keep my legs moving. This bike does exactly that! For the price it is amazing, it is compact, easy to use, light weight, keeps track of time, calories etc (not sure how accurate it is) but good little product. I am happy with it.

Good video. A big problem I see with people that do seated calf raises is that they do not allow their heels to go down very far. This does not allow for the proper stretch of the muscle, and their results suffer.

They both target different muscles. Standing calf raises focus on the Gastrocnemius (The calf muscle), while seated focus on the Soleus (The muscle underneath the calf).

Is it a 'heel' movement as in drop the heel, raise the heel? Or is is stretch and 'push down' into the pad? Always had issues with this.

Many lying leg curl machines enable you to sit on the end and put your knees under the pad to perform seated calf raises, just ensure that your toes are elevated for example on weight plates to increase the range of motion.

No, the soleus is a slow twitch muscle which responds to higher reps, therefore use a lighter weight and aim for 15 to 30 reps.

15 to 20 reps is fatiguing the muscle not overloading it . Bring the reps down to actually building some muscle 6 to 10 good reps , progressive overload is the name of the game. If you can do 10 reps with a weight then increase the weight . If you can’t do 6 good reps with a weight then decrease the weight . Get it ?
@asprinklingofclouds Жыл бұрын
This exercise specifically trains the soleus, which is a slow twitch dominant muscle and therefore responds much better to higher reps (15+)
@Jenniferadcock8 жыл бұрын
Forcing a deep stretch is actually ineffective, as it is exceeding the natural range of motion of the muscle and simply stretching connective tissue. If you stand straight up, with your legs straight and try to lift your toes to the ceiling, you will see how limited your dorsal flexion actually is - and that is the range of motion of your calve exercises.

Your feet are made up of many small bones, and have a natural arch, forcing them flat with great weight is putting them at higher risk of injury, with no benefit
