Nice video. To those who commented about not opening the cooling system when it’s hot, yes you are correct. The heat in the coolant is a byproduct of the internal combustion process .Heat causes expansion and since the cooling system is under pressure ,allowing the system to cool down before opening said system would be appropriate.

Great job showing the bleeder valve. A couple of other KZfaq videos failed to show that part. Couldn't figure out why my car didn't take anywhere near the amount of coolant I had removed after a thermostat and hose change.

Those people that their Ford Fusions 2010-2012 require Orange Motorcraft Coolant (Ford specifications WSS-M97B44-D and WSS-M97B44-D2), and Motorcraft Specialty Dark Green Coolant (Ford specification WSS-M97B55-A). The new coolant that Ford recommends is the new Motorcraft Yellow Coolant, it is backward compatible with the 2 Coolants that I mentioned. (Flushes are not required, except if the coolant that is currently in the vehicle is contamined).

Can you please explain about contaminated coolant. Wondering about the flushes thanks
@Exterminator_PvP_YT
@Exterminator_PvP_YT 2 ай бұрын
@@Gerardocaracosa To what I know, contaminated coolant is that 2 types of coolant are mixed, such as P OAT and Nitrite Organic Acid, or the car was filled with tap water, or any other type of contamination.

I was confused about the bleeder valve, because the screw only seemed to turn 1/8 turn. Someone suggested spraying PB blaster on the valve to help it turn (spray between the "screw" part and the outer cylinder). I did that. The bleeder valve is not a valve like a plumbing ballcock valve. It is a plastic screw (with the screwdriver slot) inside a threaded plastic cylinder (which attaches to a rubber hose). There is an O ring around the inner plastic screw part, which keeps the coolant and pressure in when "closed". Hold the valve (the outer plastic cylinder) in your strongest hand, then turn the inner screw part counter clockwise with the screwdriver until you see the O ring come a little above the outer plastic cylinder. Then you know it's open, and the air can bleed out. To close it, turn the screw part clockwise until flush with the outer cylinder. Mine has a pink line on it . Turn the inner screw part until the top is flush with the outer cylinder, and the pink line should be fairly close to the little pink dot on the outer cylinder. Edit: This is something you need to do to let the air out so your engine doesn't overheat. Don't bleed when the engine is hot, let it cool down first!! If you can't unscrew it yourself, get your neighbor to do it (you know, that guy that shook your hand so hard it hurt). Good luck!

There's a bleed valve that you're supposed to open when adding new coolant so that most of the air gets out. To remove all air you need to turn the heater to max and rev to 3k rpm for 30 seconds and repeat it a few times.

On my fusion 2010 sel v6 the valve is metallic right under the air filter hose. For some reason, the manual says 9 litters, and I was able to get a gallon out waiting for about 10 minutes , not sure if all coolant went out, how ever looks pretty clean aftera few miles.

Will coolant come out of the bleeder when having it open and revving to bleed it ? Or will it just be free of air after X amount of times revving to bleed it

Don't use the orange coolent or dark green coolent. They have all been replaced in 2018 by ford's new gold coolent. It is far superior and it is great upgrade especially if you have the V6 with the internal water pump.
@idanny76

Wouldn't it require a radiator flush? If I am correct, draining it will still leave some of the orange coolant and its not good to mix different types of coolant.

How many miles did your 2012 ford fusion have? Mine has 146k miles and the coolant still looks orange and not dark like yours. The coolant hasn't been changed ever and I was considering just changing it to keep the car running good. I read on some of the comments to change to the gold coolant, but my guess is that it will require a flush to remove all the orange coolant. If I am correct, it is not good to mix coolants.
