This is a great exercise to improve your perspective skills, especially with organic forms like human heads. You're going to figure out the orientation of the head in space by considering a simple box, then using that box as a map for a portrait. Watch this video for tips on how to do this properly.
Practice this from the photos I've provided in the link below and submit your drawing to the community on the same page!

This come across to me when I do portraits.. I have a question regarding 5 value studies. I see Some of instructors use this pre-determined 5 values for an object. And most of the time this work if the object is in the same lighting as those instruction videos But if there’s a difference in lightning, Do I still use this pre-determined 5 values for study ? Or should I choose the 5 value based on the references ? I hope this quesiton make sense, It’s bothering me for a bit.
@ProkoTV
@ProkoTV 4 ай бұрын
Hey, there! In a free critique video, we talked about how you can limit a drawing to fewer values but play with what those values are. You can add contrast by knocking out the midtones or push and pull whether your drawing is darker or lighter. As long as the values are consistent with each other, it's up to you what values you use. Here's that video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qpd_rJd2vtDQhGw.html And a short about it as well: kzfaq.infoTvcyjgV7EsA

Kinda works better than drawing a circle head, because you can make straight lines easier than a perfect circle.
@ProkoTV
@ProkoTV 4 ай бұрын
I talk about it a little at the beginning of the level two part of this video but that was at the core of one of our early Drawing Basics lessons. Block ins and other techniques for starting a drawing sometimes focus on the use of small, straight lines because we don't need some flowy nuance-y line. We just need to get the shape in before going to town on the drawing!

My que is how to manage our practing sections with our projects Like if i don't do geasture drawing for 3-4 days my hands are like very tight .and feel something new to Is daily geasture is the must thing 💬 and what are the things is must to practice daily
@ProkoTV
@ProkoTV 4 ай бұрын
If you can fit in daily practice, that's great! Otherwise, fitting in where you can is okay and you don't have to draw every single day. If you're finding that you have stiffness often, try working some quicksketch and other short warm up exercises before you start a drawing session. You don't want to go into drawing cold, even if you are drawing every day.

Try to get back to basics! Revisit the things that inspired you to draw in the first place and think about why you draw. We also have a great video on finding inspiration to draw that might help: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jKuTp5ui3N_GiIk.html
