As someone who can't draw but always want to, this video is very inspiring. You went from a beginner to actually developing a style of your own. (I love your character's big hands. They are all very expressive.) Touhou in fact inspires me to do something similar. I now pick up a musical instrument. The first song I try to play is Broken Moon. I still have a long way to go, but thank you for this wonderful and encouraging video.

Even if a concrete scale of “improvement” is hard to pinpoint, it seemed like every piece and practice definitely counted for something. In your various self-praises and self-critiques, you pointed out a lot of details that I wouldn't have thought to consider, considerations that reflect unique perspectives you now have in the back of your head forever, shaping the range of what you can express. I'm not particularly an expert on visual art -- but with any art in general, I’ve always really hated the sentiment that “each individual thing you do should be better than the last.” Art is made to express things, in and of itself. The more you make, the more chances you have to express those things, the more chances to hit on something that you or others find especially valuable. Building experience is great and useful and surely makes a difference in the long run, but each moment doesn’t have to be a concrete leap upward -- just another opportunity! I normally just hand mine out for free as a reward for interaction. You don't necessarily have to do the same but I'm just throwing that out there. And for a tablet (referring to your own comment) I would suggest doing research first and then try to find a used/discounted version of it . As for type of tablet? Anything that can function as a second monitor where you can see where your strokes are landing ( ex. I use a WACOM Cintiq 12). My suggestion also on how to improve further is to do like what you did with your final suwako drawing. That being revisiting older drawings and try to redraw them with your current skill set. Hey dude this is incredibly inspirational! Your art is good and the pace you progressed was superhuman. If I could draw like you I would consider starting to make short Touhou comics, starting with silly humor and eventually serious stories.

You're making fast progress! ive been drawing for years and the best advice i can give to a new artist like you is to keep drawing and have fun with it. Draw what you want to draw in the beginning and learn as you go. Maybe learn basic porportions and construction methods from youtube but don't feel like you have to go super far with learning anatomy. learn what you want when you want. the most important thing to to keep drawing consistently, that habit is the best thing you can have.

People who become artists have an unfair advantage over those with natural art ability. Your capacity for art *skyrocketed* during those 100 days. I don't like sounding like im bragging, especially about my art but i would say i feel like I have a grasp on construction and anatomy. But i spent years learning it. You went from my level 4-5 years ago to about my level 1-2 years ago in the span of 100 days. And thats because of your grit and determination. I'm really proud of you!

Considering to draw something for HifuuDay (Hifuu's 20th anniversary) but wasn't sure if I could try something nice but this video gave me some inspiration to start drawing humans (had drawn some monsters before, as well as the Yuuka Gyate on paper for my teacher as a farewell gift but they weren't particularly good) so thanks for the inspiration lol

Your determination throughout the challenge is so impressive to me as I struggle so much just to actually start drawing art, even though I like doing it. Honestly watching this video made me feel inspired to begin practicing more consistently, as I’ve been very inconsistent lately cause I’ve lacked inspiration to actually draw. GG on managing to draw a whole character everyday! That must of been exhausting, and even if you don’t see it. You have improved quite a lot. Also the thing at the end about being your own worst critic, it’s quite true, mainly because as you make art, not only your skill improves but so does your eye. As you create more art, and learn more, your observation skills also get better and this leads to things like not being able to see improvements due to your eye surpassing your skill. However it’s not entirely a bad thing, it allows you to find out what you want to improve with, and see what mistakes you make often when you make art. Because if there were no issues you could see, you’d be stuck. It can be very demotivating sometimes though, but there’s a common saying with art that when you’re feeling quite bad about your art that you’re close to a breakthrough in skill, because you know that there’s a lot to improve to get to your ideal style. I’ve been doing art for a while, 3-4 years, and in the past 2 I’ve took it more seriously. and you will improve the more you practice, what I’d recommend is looking at your art and finding out what you don’t like with it, then studying those parts you struggle with. For example I struggle a lot with faces, so I used a reference and deconstructed the face, then attempted to stylise it, using another reference from an artist I like for the style. You could potentially do something similar, but with what you deem to be problems, cause often the things you notice are what’s bottlenecking you in terms of skill. Anyways, like I said, your improvement is great. Your poses have gotten much more lively and energetic when compared to the earlier arts from day 1-10. Good look with your art journey, was very inspiring to see this and I hope you can achieve your personal goal of selling some stickers at touhoufest!

I've discovered your channel a few weeks ago trying to get into Touhou (I was trying to get into it beyond just bad apple and the sfm animations I've been seeing) but I've never commented. I'm commenting now because I've got a sketchbook I haven't gotten around to using since I've got it for christmas. My art, designs, shades and poses were pretty cringey, and I've pretty much gave up entirely. But seeing your progress here has been an inspiration for me. Seeing you improve like that during the challenge makes me want to pick up that pencil again and get messy with my sketchbook. Maybe I'll make an attempt on the 100 days challenge myself and see where that takes me, and I wouldn't be as motivated as I am now if it weren't for you. Thank you.

i used to draw with traditional alot of time even after i get drawing tablet, its nice to be able to practice muscle memory to draw or even small doodle on class would help your art
