Drawing closer to God begins with what you believe about forgiveness. Most Christians believe their sins separate them from God. Therefore, they are left thinking God is ashamed of them and all they can do is redouble their efforts to try and continue to live an impossible life of obedience and repentance that puts them under the curse of the law. Sin will become their master because the power of sin is the law. They will never experience God's love and acceptance because of their behavior. We are forgiven. God is not counting our sins against us. Our confession should be thanking Him for the forgiveness we have and approaching Him with confidence in our time of need. The Bible says we are alienated from God in our mind. That means we don't believe Him regarding forgiveness. God lives in us, but we live as though He is far away. There's nothing wrong with Him. It must be us. Figuring this out is the only way to "draw closer to God."

Allen, I found your channel shortly after my 11 year old daughter went to be with our Lord in July of this year. Her passing brought me to a place of repentance and renewal with God and a renewed and overwhelming Love for Jesus. As I began my new journey with God he led me to your channel where I have been blessed by your teaching and instruction. So I just want to say thank you for obeying God and helping me as I heal and grow in my faith. I thank my God on every remembrance of you.

I want you to never stop. I have learned so much. I’m 73. My paternal grandmother took us to church. I remember most of it. I remember singing a lot and still have some hymn books from that church. After my mother died when I was nine my dad had his hands full with 3 kids. We were 9,10, and 12. While that’s no excuse not to go to church he did a great job raising us and I know it was hard. We are all three believers and have or own way of worshiping. God bless you for sharing all you knowledge with the world. We all let life push us into backsliding. I’m a liver transplant patient. For 20 years. I thank God for all the miracles of my life. I took care of my dad til the end he died at 93 as aWWII veteran and a great dad. I tried to make sure he understood because he never talked about God. I know he was a believer. May God bless you for bring His word to us.

I am with God almost all day Long i am thinking of Him speaking to Him asking some i don't understand, praying, thanking, praising Him. I cannot live without Him i am in Love with Him. He is my Father, the Love of my Life. I asked Him once If He hears our thought because if He does only hear what comes out loudly then He might Not know that i am with Him every day, but He hears our thoughts and i was so thankfull that i cried for a while. This came at a great time for me. I've been living my life for myself for years, and now it's very hard for me to surrender to God. I don't have the desire to worship really, or go to church.

I grew up in church but lately I’ve strayed away so I came here to help me get back on track thank you for the video

I started drinking when I was 16. I would drink at parties, but I also started drinking alone because I was unhappy, and I was in a lot of emotional pain all the time. My mom was very aggressive when I was younger, and my brother hated her and so did I. He started hanging out with shady people, he started failing all his classes, he was never home, and my parents fought all the time. I also ran away several times. I was always trying to figure out a reason as to why I was here or what the purpose of life was. So, I started looking at different philosophies, religions, and beliefs. When I was 18 after I was hungover, I got on my knees and I prayed for the first time. I asked if God was real that he would show me he was real because I couldn’t take it anymore. I was crying when I prayed for this. At that moment I felt a presence come over me like a wind. It was barely noticeable, but it was unlike anything in my life I had experienced up until that point. I was surprised when I felt it and I remember saying “what was that?” after that experience I pretty much forgot what happened and kept partying, until my senior year when I got arrested. After my arrest, my parents lost all their trust in me and I was expelled from high school. I was told never to come back to my school. At that time, I felt afraid and hopeless. That’s when I started looking for God, and I prayed that he would reveal himself in my life and that he would give me signs. My prayers began getting answered so consistently that I couldn’t deny that God was doing something. It was mysterious and compelling. I ended up in Church and started reading the bible hours a day. I stopped hanging out with all my other friends because they were continually getting arrested. I was able to forgive my family and myself and to ask to be forgiven. I noticed how at Church people were judgmental and how they formed cliques but were afraid to be around anyone else different from them. It increased my faith because I realized Jesus was not like that and ever since I was young, I saw people as people regardless of who they were. After a while, it’s like I could see God's presence was in my life and then it felt like he wasn’t, and then he was, and then he wasn’t. One day I woke up and felt more depressed than I ever have in my entire life. I felt like I was dying on the inside. That night I prayed, and I said, God, I don’t see my life five years from now I'm going to die Jesus save me Lord, please save me. I was weeping when I said it and when I asked him to save me, I felt a presence inside of me like a heartbeat, and I felt it once like a pulse, and I said Lord please save me and I felt it again even stronger. It was like radiance. When I woke up the next morning, I had transformed everything felt brand new like I was a kid again. All my fears and all my racing thoughts everything was gone. I looked at my hands, and I said this can’t be real, it's impossible. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I saw a different person. I started praying, and the holy spirit became entirely real to me; it was washing over me and inside of me. It was total love and peace, and I heard a voice but not an audible one, it was an inner voice. It said I am with you; I love you, I will never leave you, it’s done it’s finished. That was May 3rd, 2009, and ever since then I’ve followed God, I have seen many things change and many things I know wouldn’t have changed without faith and belief. I know what it’s like to be lost to feel you have no hope. Don’t ever think you’re stuck, or life can’t change because it can. My mom is a Christian now, Its night and day. Some of the things that went away during that period were severe anxiety and my addiction to alcohol. I’ve seen and experienced so many things that are miraculous and seen how God has worked in my life. When we ask God to forgive us for what we’ve done and turn away from our sins and wrongdoings and we believe in Christ's sacrifice everything changes. His word says if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that he died and rose again we will have eternal life but not just life after death but abundant life in the present. Our sins are erased not only past, present, and future but our burdens and fears are lifted also. Our thoughts, our minds, our hearts, our souls are transformed and united with God and we know his spirit lives in us. If you seek, pray, and knock you will know JESUS IS KING!!! HE LIVES!

Love it, thank you! The daily reminder is so important!! God has been convicting me the past couple days on this very thing. The world is so chaotic and there's so many things vying for our attention that it's all too easy to find ourselves putting God on the backburner. I let myself do that far too long and I got to the place where I realized my priorities were out of whack. How can I say I love the Lord with all my heart and I've surrendered my life to him when my actions didn't show that? If I say he's the most important thing in my life, but I ignore him and do my own thing time and time again...what does that say about me and my witness, especially to my family. It's always going to be a struggle, which is the reason Christ told us to take up our cross DAILY and follow him. Otherwise it's easy to find ourselves slipping away without knowing it. I feel like I can relate to this...I have been diagnosed schitzo-affective for 21 years, taking medications and being a long time addict on top of it. At this moment I am trying to get off medications I don't need, and my brain is slowly trying to heal. My coping skills need work, and I admit- after being dependent on meds, I have a hard time really trusting in God. I love filling my life about Him, but I feel at this moment I am being unfaithful by chemicals such as when I started smoking again tho I hate it....Because I know Jesus is truth and love and should be the only way... I pray that God can give me a little more time to get thru to an awaken state again. This is a good video, Allen. Thank you.

I just wanted to add to everyone- be careful too, sometimes people try soo hard to seek God and start to go the wrong route by looking for signs and wonders. They start believing anything and everything is from God and lose their way. Thats where alot of false religions and churches were built from. Although its great to diligently seek after God and as Christians we should because we ALL go thru dry seasons in our fallen life, just be careful not to fall into the trap of looking for signs and wonders to confirm your closenest to God. Sometimes faith is just that...Faith. Nothing else.

I also do want to express that in your walk with God not every single moment of your life is going to be this passionate and fiery desire. There was a moment in time where I was experiencing severe depression and suicidal thoughts that I had never experienced in my life. I had always been mentally, emotionally, spiritually strong. But God allowed me to go through that for a reason. And in those deepest moments of sorrow, it was as if I was living in a zombie State of mind. I was pleading to God to take this sadness away from me, and mind you I hadn't gone away from God. Even up to the moment of the suicidal thoughts, I was diligently seeking God with all my heart and soul. So that's why I was so confused that it came out of nowhere. But I remained disciplined. My heart didn't have this deep fire or passion to seek God but I know that I needed to stay close to him whether I wanted to or not. I know that the devil wanted me to separate myself from God in those moments but God kept telling me even if you don't feel like praying, remain in me . Trust in me , even when your own emotions don't desire to. And I did. And i finally came out the other side. I was beating myself up during those moments that I didn't have this huge desire to pray or read the bible , but my Lord taught me that it was okay. That His love for me will carry me through those moments without condemnation.

I just realized that I did all those things when I first met Jesus and it was very easy for me because I was in love with everything related to God. Now it is more difficult and everything seems like a long list to fulfill. I hope to have a good relationship with God again and even better than before. Thank you for this video. God bless you!

Lord, Have Mercy!!!

I really needed this as a huge refresher, I slid back I felt fear suddenly and instead of going to God and trusting in him I allowed that fear to take over which resulted in sliding back. However I learnt from this experience and came back to church and refocused my mind on God. Then: I was seeking satisfaction which resulted in me spending money buying different things to make me feel full (It never worked) I felt frustrated a lot even on good days. I was a different person. NOW: I talk to God daily, driving to work and even during the day at times, when I have questions, about to make a decision. I am always satisfied even when the day is bad and when I feel the frustration which is easily taken away. I am constantly thinking about God and what I do how it reflects and is it what God wishes. I am willing to surrender everything I have for God and do his will. (I am back as a person) Even when I don't feel God around I know he is there and when I call for him he is listening and I trust he will do what is needed and what is best for me and not what I think is best for me. Even then when I don't feel him around, when I start talking to him I feel him hearing me and then after that feeling goes when I stop talking to him but my mind is constantly on God. I feel like that God will allow him to be felt around the start of our journey to help guide us and as we grow he takes steps back allowing us to get use to "You may not always feel me around but I am always here" so whenever we need God instead of going "I dont feel him around he must not care or be here" we can go "God, I need you" and trust in him that he knows why we need him we just explain because we normally do that to help us ask what is needed to be asked.

I started to feel the pull from God being drawn towards Him, I had a 20 min prayer or so and after doing some chores I watched this video and I'm feeling the presence of God, though I don't know what is He doing exactly.

A few years ago I attended The Edmonton Folk Festival. The vast majority of people there were secular. A lot of the crowd would be New Age or pagan. One of the groups singing were The Blind Boys of Alabama. The lead singer was an old African American. He addressed the audience and said "Isn't Jesus wonderful". I was astonished at his faith. Here was a blind man. A Black who grew up in Alabama when Blacks were treated as second class citizens and probably grew up poor. Yet he gave public testimony to his love for Christ to an indifferent Canadian audience. That is a real man that loves Jesus.

This Spoke To Me More. I Wanna Be Honest To Myself & My Heavenly Father God. I Wanna Get Closer & Get To Know Him, I’m Gonna Be Real, I Do Forget To Pray & Read The Bible. I Do Pray To Him When I Need Help Or Need/ Want Something But I Wanna Learn How To Live Through Him.

What an awesome video also an awesome reminder! I’ve felt myself drifting away from God. Being involved in worldly things and letting sin overtake me. Partaking in things I know I shouldn’t. I felt conviction but it wasn’t as strong as it should be. That’s what scared me. Idk how to daily be in God’s word but I must find a better way so I do not let that happen again. I felt so distant and it was only by the works of my selfishness. Even when I tried to pray I didn’t feel the closeness I felt before. Lord I pray you help me and strengthen me to draw near to You because You’ve told us that when we do, You will draw nearer to us! Help us all in our time of need and during these evil times we live in! Walk with us and guide us through our journey!

James 4:8 tells us that when we draw closer to GOD, HE will draw closer to us. Because HE reciprocates our desire for intimacy, our efforts will certainly be rewarded. Thank-you, Allen, for providing some questions we can ask ourselves to ensure that we are continually seeking HIS face.

I love this brother! You are so right that we can slowly become callous towards God and His Word. I came to know the Lord at 12, but never really had anyone close to me that could show me how a Christian should live and the relationship never really developed. Many years later the Lord called out to me and I was old enough to know that I needed to seek out godly men that I could learn from. My relationship with the Lord grew in incredible ways, and I always told the Lord I would never walk away from Him again. Unfortunately, there have been some past sins that have creeped back into my life, and I want desperately to have the strong relationship with Him that I once had.

I really liked this video, Allen. We Christians grow cold in our affections towards God for many reasons, but one of those reasons is that we don't know how to engage in our faith...many of us don't know how to have a relationship with God, and that results in living in a passive place that invites doubt and stagnation. Great questions, I know that some of them convicted me.
