I really appreciate your videos. I was raised Christian with two parents that didn’t embody the beliefs they were trying to force onto me. My dad was a pastor actually and he would use certain scriptures as punishments. He would abuse us and shame us for child mistakes and then he turned around and did much worse. He actually ended up cheating on my mom and traumatized and abandoned my entire family. It left me feeling super lost and confused right as I was coming into my young teen years. I feel heavy with a lot of ick about religion and I’ve avoided and judged it until recently, but I want to understand the Bible instead of judging everything when I don’t fully even understand it. People forget that God is all knowing. He knows what a person is always going to do before they do it. God does give people over to their sins if they do not repent. Even Jezebel had many chances to repent. God knew you before you knew yourself. Think about the entire story of the garden of Eden- same concept. God made Adam and Eve to live forever in a sinless paradise. He gave them a free will to listen to Him or not. He told Adam the rules before had, telling Him that if they ate from the tree, they would die. God did not want them to have to experience or have knowledge of evil. But, in order to have free will, you need to have the ability to make choices. The temptations surrounding them gave them the ability to exercise that free will. He did not want anyone to be forced, but to do it of their own free will. If they brought in evil, they could not commune intimately with God Himself as He is Holy. They chose to sin and bring evil into their lives, breaking that trust and relationship between them and God. They broke that union and could no longer be trusted, especially when the tree of life was within their grasp. They put a veil between them and God. God is true to His Word so their sin resulted in that spiritual separation and death, along with their respective consequences that would end up being natural consequences of life. Because of the fall of Adam, we were all sentenced to death (keeping to His word). However, because of God's love, He did the greatest thing. He gave them a way to reconcile themselves to God and said to Satan, "I will put enmity between yoy and the woman and between her seed and yours. You shall bruise His heel and He shall bruise your head." That was the introduction of the Son of God coming to redeem us. " For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever shall believe in Him, shall not PARISH (The death sentence/hell we received because of the fall), but have everlasting life (same as it was before Adam and Eve sinned). So, we were already condemned, but, He gave us a "hail mary" and it's up to us if we take it or not, which is where Heaven and Hell come into play. You can remain under the curse or you can choose to accept God 's offer of redemption. Example, you can be disobedient to your parents, lose their trust, keep doing opposite of what they teach you and you just keep defying them over and over and over again and again. They will get tired of it, tell you that if you cannot fillow the rules, not listen and just keep doing what you want, then you need to leave. Go do what you want since you do not want to listen. Your parents know the only way your going to learn is to suffer the consequences of your own actions. Do they still love you? Absolutely! Do they still want what is best for you? Absolutely! Do they want you to return home? Absolutely! God is our example of that loving parent who is trying to save you, but unfortunately, some just never grow up or change. Therefore, they will end up suffering the consequences of your own actions. God already has a beautiful purpose for your life, but you have to elect to take it. People who want God absent from their lives, then take God a way and what are you left with? Wait. Isn’t the Bible also for us. God speaks to all His children through the Bible. What I’ve come to understand is that verse and the few after that are for us when we do feel stuck in a situation. If we can’t take God’s word and apply it to our lives then it’s just a bunch of stories. This explanation has confused me.

I love Frank Turek’s apologetics, but I disagree that the Catholic Church does not teach about Jesus. I converted from Protestant to Catholic. The Catholic Church revolves around Jesus. The first thing you see when you enter the church is Jesus on the Cross. The Eucharist is the Body & Blood of Jesus. It sounds like he was a typical kid raised in his parent’s church. A lot of high school & college age students start questioning parts of their faith if not all. I would say he landed right where God called him, because he is an amazing apologist!

I'm really glad for this video, but it makes me really sad for this young woman. It makes me wonder if she has ever taken her questions to a pastor at church, or delved into Bible studies with her pastor and the church congregation. I have been involved in Bible studies with my previous pastor, who was amazing at teaching. He would delve into the history, the era in which the book we were studying was written to understand the point of view and the lifestyle that was going on in those times. It was vastly different from what we live in now. I was not good at understanding the Bible on my own. I needed a teacher, and I think that's exactly what she needs. She needs to take these questions to a good pastor and a good church. Unfortunately, a lot of churches are failing to teach anyone anything. I hope she can come across someone to help her understand the Bible.

I have never been able to understand these teachings. Some of it seems like man made ideas. Isn’t the Christian life something that we should be able to easily understand.It's not always easy to live it of course, but it shouldn't be full of weird almost mystical teaching. However, I have heard Christians who aren’t Catholic say some pretty strange and unbiblical teachings. So we shouldn't just lambast the Catholic Church. If you listen to some of the fundamentalist teaching you can hear some bizarre stuff. For instance I heard a well known American preacher say that each member of the Trinity had 3 parts so there were 9 parts to the God head. We all need to check what we believe to ensure we don’t hold on to unbiblical teachings.
