I was fishing with Terry George the other nite and he had a drift sock he put out ,I had never seen one in use before , I had always used a second anchor ,in which is a pain in the butt to bring fish in around it I'm glad you put this highly detailed information about the Drift Sock on here ,I know I will never take the boat out again without one ...Thanks Chris

I am still learning ALL the advantages to using socks. By using two sizes off each side, you can actually position you boat differently. I use them in non-current, high wind situations to control the boat at different angles.....Good stuff Chris!
@chrissouders4766 жыл бұрын
Your absolutely right Greg Yazel so many different situations you can use them in make them a very versatile tool for a lot of fishermen! Thanks for watching and sharing some good feedback information.

Great job I use the same Cabelas drift socks, So much easier than the old style of years past that had no float or weight. One thing I do that works great and makes it less likely to get snagged in a fish or rig is to turn it inside out and run the yellow line inside. It keeps the line from moving around and risk of snags. It is also just as easy pulling in, it just inverts the sock. I also always use a float of some type to make sure it will float if broke free, comes loose or just dropped. I use the 56" 66" and two also two 38" I can suspend under the boat so they do not stick out the back when dragging or power drifting.

Figured you had a Drift Sock video - used one for the first time in the yak yesterday - took me down to 0.4 from over 1.0 mph. Ordered a second and bigger one to get me in that 0.2-0.3 mph range for the winter.

Hey Chris gotta question for ya...With the tourney coming up this weekend in Huntington with the boundries being to the Greenup Dam how does the fishing lic work being that the river borders three states??thank you
@chrissouders4766 жыл бұрын
Hey Johnny sorry I’m just now getting back to you. But if you’re not in Ohio, West Virginia Or Ky resident then you will need to buy either a Kentucky or West Virginia out of state fishing license depending on what section of the river you plan to fish

Drift socks are good in low current situation or when you need to keep the boat straight

My boat is as big as yours. If you had to buy one drift sock for anchoring in a river with tide current and some wind what SIZE would you get?? (I'm looking to keep my boat straight when I'm anchored on windy days. The river I fish is tidal. Thanks!

Hey Chris I have 18ft patoon and run spot lock on ipilot any suggestion to keep back from swaying side to side
@chrissouders4763 жыл бұрын
Yeah absolutely try some small drift socks if there is current. If no current than you will probably want to use two anchors. Thanks for watching

You said you use a 48" drift sock. How big is your boat? I think your said your boat is aluminum. I'm asking because my boat is a 20' aluminum boat .

Remember to really look at the size and read up. It is not the size you think. The are measures flat across the larger end. Yes you really may need 66" or larger
@andydavishoosierlegendsken54543 жыл бұрын
You only use one and does it matter which side of the boat to use it on
@chrissouders4763 жыл бұрын
A lot of that will depend on the current and wind. If there is little current I’ll put out two and sometimes bigger socks. But if there is a lot of current I’ll just use one or smaller socks

That’s what you pull as you are pulling the sock in. It dumps the water and makes it easier to pull in.
