HOW TO: Easy CNC Swing Arm

We do a quick show and tell of the swing arm setup we use here at the MakerStation. If you own a CNC machine and do not have a swing arm to hold your cables and hoses out of the way you know how frustrating it can be.
So with a little effort and few bucks you can put together this super easy to make swing arm for your machine.

Thanks! I was just about to setup my dust collection with a 4" (overkill) but now I will use a 2 1/2" with the swingarm. Less clutter, easier operation.

Your more then welcome, glad to be a help. Lots of times when we assemble a machine we skip this simple step that cost us less then 20 bucks but makes such a huge difference in the daily work flow with this awesome machine.

Your welcome glad to help! I know the feeling and now after we did this we are upgrading all of our machines. Its so simple and in expensive and its great that its portable so we can still move the machine around without having to disconnect from hooks in the ceiling like we used to do :D

Great video. Is there any build video for the dust boot? Also, how long was the hose used for this 1515 machine?

@@OpenBuilds I was actually asking what dust boot was on the machine and if it was a purchased or something openbuilds built.and if so, is there is any video for making it?

@@fathmi Sorry for the misunderstanding :) That's a Kent Dust shoe and it works really nice, The one here fits a 65mm diameter router like the RoutER11 - openbuildspartstore.com/dust-shoe/

Nice, but I just have a hook in the ceiling and a Henry vac!

We did the same for years and it works but for very cheap and little effort this system makes a great difference especially since we are on wheels and can roll around allowing the vacuum hose to ride with it. We plan to upgrade all the machines in the shop.

Any problems with static?

Hi Patrick, I ran the vacuum hose and the router cord on this and have not had any static problems. In fact I think it helps as it moves both of these static causing elements up and out of the way of anything else.

Funny you say that as we discussed jogging the machine around a bit to show off the swing arms function, but as it goes we did have the time. There will however be many more videos to come showing this machine in action soon. Thank you for watching
