Find more information about the pomegranate and how to eat it here on my website: inthekitchenwithmatt.com/how-...
In this episode of In the Kitchen with Matt, I will show you how to eat a pomegranate. I will also do a pomegranate taste test. Where do pomegranates grow? Pomegranates originated in the Iran to Northern India region many centuries ago, but have long since been cultivated in many other parts of the world. They are grown here in Arizona and in California and other States. Pomegranates are among the healthiest foods and fruits that you can eat. High essential vitamins and other healthy properties. But they can take a few minutes to prepare, you can't just eat into one like you can an apple. And don't get the juice on your clothes! The seeds are super juicy and tasty. People juice pomegranates as well as use the seeds in salads and other things. So yummy!
How to Eat a Pomegranate? To eat a pomegranate all you need to do is cut around the top where the step was and then pull it off. Then cut along the ridges of the pomegranate. Then open it up and dump the seeds into a bowl of water.
Have you had a pomegranate before? What did you think? How much did it cost? Drop a comment down below and let me know. :)

This is so wholesome. I felt kind of stupid for not knowing how to approach these but I always used to see other kids with them in their lunches and be jealous. Now that I'm an adult, I wanted one but wasn't sure how to cut or eat them. Grateful for friendly creators like you who are happy to walk us through it!

Thank you for this video. The pomegranate juice in the Super is like $18 (that was last year's price), so I bought a pomegranate fruit out of curiosity and cut it open, saw a bunch of seeds. Where's the fruit? Looked up "How to eat a pomegranate". However I still got red stains all over my desk, shirt, even my glasses. And it took a minute to figure out the red "grammar error mark" on my computer monitor was another pomegranate drop. My wife was Philippino, so we had star fruit, but those were easy. Thanks again.

😋 I have a wonderful time with eating pomegranates when I grew up in Hawaii. My brother and I tried to open and eat pomegranates in our basement when our mom bought them. Since I left for college in the mainland, I have not eaten them. Now it’s been almost 50 years since I last ate the fresh fruit. I happened to see this pomegranate. In my mind I thought “OMG!” I grabbed and bought 6. Last night I struggled opening it and I ate some. 😋 YUMMY! I miss eating the pomegranates so much. ❤❤❤🤙🏼🌺

@@inthekitchenwithmatt I sure will. Thank you for your prompt reply…we’re going to try it this evening. My husband has already had them as a child and remembers going to get them from his aunts yard. She had a tree they would get them off this time of year and since I’ve never had one so we’re gonna have one tonight after he gets home

Thanks Matt. I had bought one yesterday & immediately went to try out your method. My brain kicked in as I was picking out the pieces of pith. Must have been too early in the morning. LOL. Thanks. Guess I wasn't listening because while I'm writing this your video is playing again & I clearly heard you say exactly that. This one cost me $1.97 in Alberta, Canada. But I have seen them as high as $2.50. Your method worked great. Would have been faster had I used the bowl of water.

You are welcome, Brenda! :) That is pretty expensive. They are expensive even here in AZ at times, but sometimes I can find them for 50 cents a piece, which is awesome!

I bought one for the first time today ($3.99 for one at a Kroger...never again. Going directly to the fruit market from now on) and I have a story. My dad told me when I was little that my mother loved "indian apples" and that she ate the seeds. Mind you this was back in the 70s. I faintly remember being shown one back then but I remembered that it didn't look like an apple. I don't remember seeing her eat these while we were little but she said she liked them. Fast forward to these times, everything is pomegranate this and pomegranate that. The juice is so tasty but let me find one in the natural state. OMG.....this is the "indian apple" that my dad was talking about!!!! I guess you could say my intrigue has come full circle. These "indian apples" are so good!!! I didn't know how to open it and your video came up first.

Such a nice story! Yeah, I see them for that price sometimes at my Kroger owned store (Fry's) here in Arizona. Typically they will be cheaper at a farmer's type market/fruit market. Glad the story came full circle! :)

If somebody did not try this fruit should start. I make juice. 16oz of cold water, 2 small spoon of sugar or none and put one big California pomegranate ,after peeled, in the blender. Blender for very short time using the on/off pulse just enough time to release the red juice from the seeds. You will see the white seeds, time to stop. Put the juice in the fridge to be colder if wish and enjoy. So refreshing and light. I wish there was pomegranate all year, not only on Fall season. I am not brave to eat the seeds, what if gets stuck, constipation. So just suck the juicy red thing and spit discreetly the seeds or make juice.
