1. Blueberries

We have strawberries & blueberries every night after dinner as my husband is on a keto diet & I’m Type 1 insulin dependent diabetic. My endocrinologist rang me today to say he can’t believe how well my HBA1C has been over the years. I’ve had diabetes since I was 12 years old. I’ve always made sure I take care of myself even 39 years later 😀🥰🇦🇺

As a dietitian, this video is only partially true. There is NO one fruit that diabetics SHOULD eat or shouldnt eat. Diabetics are able to enjoy a regular diet similar to normal people as long as it is BALANCED. It is Okay to have pineapples, mangoes, watermelons, bananas, grapes, raisins, lychees and dates. The key is to have them IN MODERATION and to spread them out. It doesnt mean that for a low GI food, you could have them in huge amount because ultimately, sugars do add up. A better way will be to look at Glycemic Load (GL) rather than GI because GL takes into consideration the AMOUNT you eat while GI looks merely at How fast sugar is released from the food. When in doubt, always seek professional help! :)

It should be noted that commercially grown strawberries use one of the highest level of pesticides when growing. Washing them helps a little but there still full of residue. Go for organic.

Aldi's has berries almost all year round. My wife fixes blueberries, strawberries, black berries and raspberries in a small bowl (a cup or so) mixed with 1/2 a banana instead of sugar.

Thanks you just confirmed my problem with blood sugar. I’m guilty of eating Grapes, Banana, & Watermelon over the past month. My Pre Diabetic number went from the very low 100’s to as high as 126 to 143. Thanks I will get it under control immediately.

My father diabetic for35 years..he always eat banana easy digestiton.. he will never touch the bluberry,strawberry, pineapple, kiwi or any fruit in high vit c.the fruit are sour. He say i hav gastric...

I thought I was doing great cutting some carbo from my diet, I was eating more fruits like bananas, pineapple, mangoes, cranberries and apples. I was so surprised that my glucose level lab went up, almost at the borderline, never had happened before! The only good thing was that my cholesterol level dropped, so one thing for the other... 🙄

I eat every fruit mentioned in bad list. (I am diabetic as well since 5 years). This video is just partially correct. U can eat every fruit but in a controlled manner.

This morning before breakfast my blood sugar(B.S.) was 122 . So I had a bowl of Cheerios with about 1.5 cups of previously frozen mixed berries, blueberries, blackberries and strawberries, plus low-fat milk. An hour and half later my B.S was 136 but 30 minutes late it was only 106. To me that’s amazing because according to the package the berries alone contained 15 grams of sugar. It shows that where the sugar comes from can make a huge difference. Amazing I just tested again 2.5 hours later and my B.S is only 96!

This happens most of time just after 2hrs sugar level about 170-180 then after 4.t hrs sugar level drops to 110-115!

@@subrahmanyasastry1587 “happens most of the time” what does? Do you mean after any sugar spike? If I eat some pizza followed by some ice cream I’d get a massive spike and after 4 hours be about 135. Even worse for me is pineapple, a bowl will get me as high as 195 after an hour and a half.

i love 1 cup frozen blueberries with 1 cup unsweetened almond milk, and 2 tablespoons of chia seeds, let it soak for at least 30 mins in fridge and its like a icey ice cream. you can put 1 package of stevia if you want it sweeter. i’m fighting some health issues right now, so i love watching videos like this. thanks❤️christy from va

I have recently been diagnosed with diabetes. Its a very educational video indeed. I am having oats porridge for breakfast daily, with 5 almonds, 10 raisins and 2 dates and a bit of milk for my breakfast and my sugar is fine so far. ❤

I eat my blueberries in my oatmeal each morning, also eating an apple each day . I work outside in the rain,heat , cold & sunshine , I haven’t had a head cold in the last 4 years -I love it .

In India except bananas all other fruits are seasonal I guess eating in moderation is ok. I also eat guavas apples oranges strawberries I do eat a small banana everyday in my oats n dryfruits porridge. In India during Diwali a lot of sweets are made l made sugarfree ladoos (round balls) made from roasted oats dryfruits dates n cardamom powder with a little clarified butter

it gets very monotonous in the winter in Australia. I'm allergic to oranges, mandarins etc, so if you cut out bananas as well, it leaves just pears and apples. Raw carrots are a good substitute, but like bananas, they aren't that great if you have reflux.

This is great information. I was recently diagnosed with "prediabetes" via A1c of 6. My understanding is that this can be reversed with change of diet and more exercise. With that said, I make a daily smoothie with 5 strawberries and about 10 blueberries. My smoothie includes sugar free Almond milk, a protein powder that has around 2gs of sugar, a ground whole oat powder contains no sugar, and a cup of NO sugar yogurt. If you have any thoughts on this or have a similar or better recipe, please let me know.

You need them high glycemic fruit too for their micronutrients. Just in moderation n ideally before a cardio work out. For instance a yogurt fruit bowl of one date, one fig, three black grapes, one slice of banana, mango or watermelon per day

My dad is a diabetic and this was quite interesting and surprising. Sometimes his sugars are ok and sometimes they are through the roof like in the 30’s. He asked if I could write him this list and he would take it to work with him because every single morning he would have a banana. Thank you for the informative video.

I had assumed that as most tropical fruits were 'bad' as high sugar that they must be too. Papayas taste sweet as though high sugar.

Bitter melon is a tall and voluminous plant with red seeds inside, hollow inside, first green and then yellow in color, with a bubbly surface on the outside. The pancreas is similar to the "bitter melon" fruit in its blistering texture, shape and length. As the name suggests, bitter melon tastes bitter. The color of the digestive enzymes and bile fluid is green and yellow and has a bitter taste. Bitter melon is hollow. The stomach, gallbladder, intestines, and uterus are empty inside. The grains in bitter melon are similar in shape and color to red blood cells. The gallbladder, pancreas, stomach, and intestines are organs responsible for digestion. Bitter melon can be therapeutic in diseases of the pancreas, stomach, gallbladder, intestine, digestive system in general. The pancreas is responsible for secreting insulin and regulating blood sugar. Bitter melon can be very effective in diabetes. Bitter taste is the opposite of sweet. I have no definite claims. The hibiscus plant is red in color. Hibiscus is not sweet but sour. The color of our blood is red. Diabetics have too much sugar in their blood. In other words, the blood of diabetics is sugary. Diabetics have sugar in their urine. In other words, the urine of diabetics is sugary. Lemon juice is yellow like urine. Lemon juice is not sweet but sour. Hibiscus is red like blood. Tomato juice is red like blood. Natural garden tomatoes taste sour. Cow's milk contains lactose. So cow's milk is actually a sweet liquid. However, the taste of yogurt, which is a dairy product, is sour. So sweet milk turned into sour milk. With this "conversion" logic, especially "sour yogurt" can transform the sugar in our blood, that is, destroy it. Yogurt juice is similar to urine and tastes sour. Yogurt juice can be very effective in diabetes. I told you hibiscus is blood-colored and sour. Hibiscus is not perceptibly sweet, but sour. So the opposite of sweet. When the sugar in our blood "transforms", it becomes sugar-free, like hibiscus. Hibiscus can be effective in diabetes. Maybe a mix of these three should be used: sour yogurt, hibiscus, lemon. I'm just reasoning. but these three fruits and herbs are recommended against diabetes in old natural folk medicine books and are known to be good for diabetes among the people. My approach seems in line with the facts. By the same logic, red wine, which is low in sugar, should also lower blood sugar.Turnip juice is also sour and red. (If sugary blood turns into sour blood, if sugary urine turns into sour urine, diabetes is over.) & Make your own yogurt at home. Do not add sugar or honey to yogurt.&

As a type 2 diabetic for the past 23 years I have seen information change frequently. Glycemic Index is different than glycemic load. The reason is the most common sugars in fruit is glucose and fructose. Fructose gets process differently and has nothing to do with insulin. It won't raise your glucose levels. It is recommended based on the many studies I have read to eat fresh pineapple but not a large portion. about 120 grams. Same with watermelon. With pineapple what it can do for inflammation and gut health exceed the sugar spike which you only get if the pineapple is overripe or you eat too much. Bananas. I have never seen something so debated. Specifically a medium (no more than 6 inch) banana has enough pro's to outweigh the cons. The more I read and see the conflicts I see. But this is the first time I ever saw anyone say to eat an orange. My Dad used to use oranges to raise his glucose level. I understand what the video said and if I can verify it I will have my first orange in years!

@@paulwhite5447 Blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and raspberries are the only fruits recommended for type two, with an occasional unripened banana. See Dr. Berg and Fung and I hope this helps.

@@paulwhite5447 from what i watched and read from Diabetes doctors they all said NO to corn, oats, quinoa, rice, bread, yellow fruits (pineapple, bananas, mangoes, peaches, etc) and yellow vegetables ( squash, pumpkin, potatoes, sweet potatoes including carrots)...greens are best and only avocados and berries are recommended... citrus and bananas are all in caution list meaning a portion once a week..

Watermelon and cantaloupe are my favorite fruits. I had overlooked fresh grapes because I have a weakness for them also. Life change is how I approach my pre-diabetes now. Thanks for this informative video.

I disagree with eating dates. I am a diabetic and I’ve noticed remarkable improvement in my blood sugar levels after ingesting dates. I’ve seen something of that nature in the literature but can’t quote it at this time. In other places empirical sources tell us that dates are good for diabetics.

I tend to make salads with BlueBerries and StrawBerries. Made one last night with Blues, Celery, Tofu (extra firm), Mozzarella Cheese, and some seasonings. I don't do dressings. But I do a mix of Olive/Avocado Oil and Apple Cider Vinegar on the side.

@@grandpa1011 Of Course I add Greens. That's always a given. I just didn't feel the need to mention it. And Tofu I like for the mix and firmness. But I tend not to eat that very often either. But Cheese? Not giving up on it. But I use as little as possible.

Yes bananas 🍌 can be eaten. Peanut butter increases the blood sugar. Black grapes are good for Diabetics as well sour soap, papaya, honeydew and many more. Thanks for your video .

May I also add another fruit very good for diabetics. This is the kerser fruit locally known as aratiles here in the Philippines. This fruit looks like a very tiny apple or cherry and it has a relatively subtle sweetness that won't greatly affect the blood sugar levels.

This video was RIGHT ON TIME! because I use wild blueberries and bananas in my smoothy every morning on my routine labs 6 months ago I noticed my fasting glucose iwas 90 I checked the carbs in nanas and stopped using them in the smolthie hell! The blueberries are far mire beneficial im eager to see how far my glucose lab after 6 months even though 90 ain't super high I definitely won't let it get to 100

Fresh fruit is great but for things like berries try frozen as a cheaper option. Also no deadline to wolf them down before they go off. Defrost overnight as much as you need. Make sure it's just fruit and not infused with sugar or other krap though. Read the label.

Thnx a lot that's really a very helpful information I have studied and tried already whenever I eat bananas grapes dried grapes or watermelon I feel weakness and i can check it by my fingers , the best way to control the sugar is that eat every fruit and check it by your self and make a list which one is useful and which one is harmful instead of going to any of doctors be a doctor by yourself, as some one said , exercise makes the man perfect.

Making smoothies or salads out of these fruits probably robs them of what's beneficial about them and takes longer. Why not simply eat them the way they are. They're all delicious.

I freeze fresh sliced peaches, strawberries, and blueberries. Then when I want a smoothie, I take one out and blend it with a low fat and low sugar protein shake. I count this as a meal.

Being a diabetic, I take one or two dates in the morning only while avoid taking them after afternoon. I must admit I take a banana with my oatmeal mixed with two or three types of nuts. I may also take dried figs one or two in breakfast.

That sounds like a great breakfast filled with antioxidants and cholesterol lowering fiber from the oatmeal! Unlike bacon and eggs which has high amounts of saturated fat and doesn't allow insulin to enter the cell which spike blood glucose higher.

There aren’t good or bad fruit.. the most importance is how much you consume them. If you put load of blueberries for one day diet that won’t be good. Likewise if you consume a few 10 raisins per day that would be beneficial for your body. Diet = how much you consume is the most important.

Eat all kinds of fruits to make your body well nourish even if you are diabetic. Fructose sugar in fruits can easily be converted to glucose and glucose can easily be consumed by the cells or body organs. Unlike of succrose sugar it is hard to break, hard to convert to glucose hence it goes to the blood not consume by the cells. Succrose sugar is also called table sugar or added sugar. Beware of foods and drinks with added sugar. Your FBS will surely go high above normal level. Wish I you know now. Merry Christmas!!!

I have found that I could eat raisin brand cereal without having an abnormally higher sugar spike from most anything else I eat. Never tried what just raisons by themselves do to my readings.

How about coconut, jackfruit, melon, musk melon, papaya, honey, honeydew, cantaloupe...of the Indian banana varieties robusta is not good..yelaki, red banana south Indian banana variety is ok for diabetes...gauva is also ok...pomegranate white and red ok....

I've to cut out almost everything I like. I also only have two actual food allergies, oranges and oats, although I'm finding it harder and harder to deal with dairy as I get older, even low fat, lactose free, and also most proteins now too. You wouldn't believe how many products have oats in them and how many dieticians bang on about the wonders of oats and won't let you get a word in edgeways to tell them you're allergic to them. It cuts out a whole load of multigrain products and 80 percent of breakfast cereals! Makes for a very limited diet for a diabetic. Good job I like cauliflower, because it makes a good substitute for rice and pasta, meaning the rest of the family isn't forced to eat my diet and I don't have to cook separate meals.
