Here is one of my methods to fertilise my bonsai. This is like a slow release fertiliser and I supplement this type of feeding with a liquid feed as well during the growing season. #bonsai #bonsaiworx #fertilisebonsai

Very helpful video. Thank you ! Feeding is an absolute interessting topic for me. Im using "Saidung Ultra" (organic, NPK 8-4-5) here in germany. My trees get this fertilizer every month from April as soon as it has decomposed on the surface. Once a week (Sundays) the trees get "Wuxal" (liquid-mineral, NPK 8-8-6).

Hey David, great video as usual! Dynamic lifter has NPK value of 3.6, 1.1, 1.7 It also has micro nutrients sulfer, Iron, Magnesium, Molybdenum and Zinc. Most seaweed/fish emulsions have a NPK of 12, 1-2, 7-10. I have found that dynamic lifter can be used throughout the growing season with little effect on internode length and leaf size because of a lower nitrogen content. Because it’s organic and, during the warmer temperature, as it ferments, creates a great condition in the soil for root health and growth. I’m thinking of trying to find a humic acid fert, to see if this helps with root development? I also use lime after repotting.

The birds around my place take what ever I put on my pots as feed so I've started burying my fertiliser baskets under the soil, the smart bastards ain't figured that out yet🤣 bring it on magpies 💪

Hi David, how often do you replace the teabags? How long does the fertiliser in them last?
@Bonsaiworx2 жыл бұрын
I usually put news ones on every 6-8 weeks. Not sure how long it’s effective but that’s my guess.

Hi David, I had a question I accidentally put as a reply to another viewers question. I’m struggling to find these teabags on the daiso online store. Could u please give the exact name of the product or any clue that I can type in their search bar to hopefully get my hands on some. Cheers mate, love your work! Keep em coming! 👍🏻👍🏻

Try tea filter bags. It’s a bit hit and miss. Sometimes they have heaps and sometimes none at all. But I’ve only ever bought by going to the shop itself rather than online. Good luck.

Thanks for your helpful video. With maples Japanese maple and trident maple. When is best time for fertilise it please ?

Wait until first lot of leaves have hardened off. If you go too early you will get big leaves. If you are trying to grow big trunks then feed early. If you are trying to grow more ramification in a bonsai pot then wait until first lot of growth has hardened off. Hope that makes sense.

Npk 8-8-8 fertilizer can be used in black pine?
@Bonsaiworx2 жыл бұрын
Yep. Just use half strength according to the mixing instructions if it’s a liquid feed.

Hmmm I know some people might make there own mix and include it in their mix but I am too lazy!! Haha
@jamesancilleri52632 жыл бұрын
It contains composted chicken manure, fish meal, blood & bone and seaweed apparently

Hmmm sorry James, I haven’t done that before. I always only use dynamic lifter in my tea bags.
