Here's the entire Test Issues & Fixes + Q&A Playlist: • Q&A + Common Test Issu... .
OUTLINE:
(0:36) Intro
(1:55) Useless Tip
(2:55) Background/Theory
(10:45) Tip #1 (The MEGA-TIP to make all the other tips useful): ***HOW TO PRACTICE***: Specific/Dedicated practice time + Applying Multiple Tips
(14:10) Tip #2: ELEGANT SOLUTIONS= FEWER ERRORS
(15:52) Important point: BEWARE OF A FALSE SENSE OF MASTERY. CARELESS ERRORS MIGHT BE A MANIFESTATION OF LACK OF CONTENT MASTERY.
(16:32) Tip #3a: Check HIGH-ERROR Steps: Long/difficult chains of calculations
(18:08) Important Point: Many of the tips including 3a will often FAIL because of DEEP ERRORS (errors are often correlated). This will be addressed in Tip 12 in the part 2 video.
(20:23) Tip #3b: Check HIGH-ERROR Steps: Offense/Real-time Checking
(21:42) Tip #3c: Check HIGH-ERROR Steps: SLOW on the SETUP
(23:33) Bonus Tip: Always double check the UNITS. A favorite trap of test-makers.
(24:21) Tip #4a: EXAMS vs. PRACTICE: Make Practice HARDER
(26:10) A Common Naive Belief/Myth: "I can safely ignore the careless errors in practice. I'll just step it up on the day of the exam."
(26:44) Tip #4b: EXAMS vs. PRACTICE: RESPECT the "EASY" Qs/ Stay "Even Steven"
(28:45) Tip #5: ****REREAD THE QUESTIONS... AT THE END (i.e. after you think you've solved the question and before actually selecting a choice/finalizing your answer)**** I did not stress WHEN to reread the questions. Rereading the question prior to solving it is also helpful, but I want to emphasize that it's specifically AFTER you've just solved it.
Enjoy!

Is this all about math mistakes or mistakes on anything you do, like building something, a deliverable for work, etc?

This can absolutely be applied beyond math. The domain-specific mistakes might change somewhat (e.g. for a work deliverable, maybe forgetting signatures and dates is a common error) but the process would probably be very similar. Love your question! I imagine it would be a useful exercise to come up with a, roughly, top 10 list of common mistakes for the domain of interest and have it prominently displayed, especially for newer people.
