Personally I think first asking them to maybe take some time to maybe have a coffee together or something that can allow you guys to meet up. You won't just be another email but someone who is human.

I am a little new to the school system in America and I'm still trying to do researches about how to sign up (or something to join, or have a position) for an internship and I want to be able to publish some researches one day. Can I ask was the freemaster class useful? I am uncertain if it'll help and give me some brief look about this topic or not.

Would interning at a well known company or startup be equivalent to interning at an university with a professor? I am not sure how Colleges perceive that.
