How to find red snapper stacks in the Gulf of Mexico!

An underwater look at a red snapper stack in the Gulf of Mexico with a visit from a few large gag grouper and goliath grouper. Keep those depth finders zoomed in and pay attention as you're running offshore!

We pull up big red grouper, huge mangrove snapper and some hogfish and even tarpon

Bud there definitely is a piece of wreckage or a ledge or pot hole big enough to give these grouper species somewhere to “bed up “ . They usually don’t stray far from a home

There’s got to be some structure there that’s big enough for those gags and Goliath to get in or they wouldn’t be there.

Ho there. Thanks for this video. This was very interesting and informative. I was really surprised of what little structure there was. Not asking for the spot you fished but can you say where you were out of? We're out of crystal river. Trying to figure out how far I need to get to in order to find some fish. Tight lines.... first time on your channel. You have a new subscriber too.

Thanks, again you help so much! Tell us everything but give the gps numbers. Heading out Saturday to scout some of this. You think if we head to 100 foot around pipeline will see stacks or just head west of Anna Maria to 100-120 and search?

Pipeline is so much solid structure the fish tend to hold right on it. That's not a bad thing, but in my experience you'll get a lot more bycatch, say 25% red snapper and other mangos/gags/etc. That's a good option until the season opens on the 11th. On the open/live bottom you'll find stacks of red snapper that end up being 75% red snapper with only 25% bycatch. If it's calm just get out and keep an eye on that depth finder and you'll find plenty of fish out that deep no matter what direction you go.

2-6 oz is plenty at that depth unless the current is stronger if you're bottom fishing. 1/2- 1 oz jigheads.

Love your videos so much, could you post more hogfish videos? Or videos of fishing under the skyway on a boat, we have a 20ft center console and go there a lot

I'm working on a couple more hogfish videos so it's on my list. And yes the skyway is a great place to go lots of structure and lots of bait, the two things you need the most.

How far offshore are you going for the red snapper?

When targeting them 30+ miles. They've showed up recently in 50-70 feet but smaller fish and not as much fun as the deep runs.

We in Alabama have tons of artificial reefs we have made in the gulf of Mexico. I went out 4 .miles and we caught our limits in 2 hrs. My biggest Red Snapper to date was caught on that trip in 45ft of water. He weight was 30 pounds. A big boy. I have pictures to prove it. Good luck
