How to fix a clock/speed alert of a Camry 2002-2006 in under 10 mins

Today I will show you how to fix a Camry 2002-06 faulty clock/speed alert. It’s super easy to do. All you need is a soldering kit, a phillips head, flat head screw driver and a star shaped screw driver.

Im glad i could help 😊, little tip: there is a small chance that it stops working again so i went ahead and got a small wire and just wired the soldiers together, if you have any questions lemme know ❤

Unfortunately, this won’t fix it long term. I just did it. Yes it worked. However those resistors we just soldered back in get very hot in operation. Toyota has chosen too weak resistors. Inevitably, they’ll fail again after a few weeks. Within 1 minute of turning on the car, they are too hot to touch. So I totally removed the 3 resistors (they are 12 ohm each) and replaced them with 1 big 5-Watts 36-Ohm. But even that 5-Watts resistor overheated. I had to change it again to 3x 5-Watt 12-Ohm resistors. The PCB still gets hot. But I’m testing now

My Parents let me have their 2006, 2.4L Camry Altise after they decided to buy another car, the clock/speed alert unit display wasn't working so I tried this repair, soldering the 3 resistors, it got the display working, unfortunately it only worked for about 3 weeks before the display went out again, took it out once again and checked the resistors and they were still fine, couldn't find the problem so ended up getting a replacement off ebay from someone selling one locally out of a 2003 Camry, has worked fine so far, hopefully will continue to do so.....

Thank you for the video. It is good to see Australian content on youtube. Could you please comment in a little detail on how you resoldered those 3 components (are they resistors??). That would be very helpful. Did you use ordinary resin cored solder? I guess you would have to have the soldering iron very hot for a quick touch on both sides of each components. Yes?

Those 3 components are resistors, surface mount type, the best technique to use is to put the tip of your iron onto the solder pad on each side of the resistor until you see the solder start to melt (should only take a few seconds), add enough fresh solder to re-do the solder joint and remove the tip of your iron, that should give you a good joint, don't leave the tip of your soldering iron on the resistor too long or it will be damaged from overheating.
