thanks for saving me the time screwing off that back plate. Such an expensive piece for a tail light

I just discovered a chipped off piece on my 2020 Ranger t/lamp at the inboard edge. Must have hit it loading firewood. You are right. $750 is a bit much for a minor repair. I will find a red piece of lens and use clear JB Weld. I think I caught it before any moisture build up. JB Weld is my go-to product for lots of stuff. I've never used the clear-for-plastic version but I liked your tip: Dremel out a little clearance groove. Thanks for the simple video without all the bullshit graphics and overloud garage band music. ; ) ps People use silicone without realizing it really doesn't permanently seal as well as they think. Depends on the type of substrate but the stuff can be peeled right off most plastics. I expect JB Weld is way better for this harsh environment - car washes and road salt.

I had to fix my passenger side rear. Noticed a buildup of condensation on the clear lens. Found a 7" long crack that went unnoticed when I bought it😢 It is used and I now wonder had I noticed it before leaving the lot would they have replaced it.... I'll never know🤔 anyway.. I purchased the gorilla auto epoxy clear and sealed the visible carcked area. Attempt #1 failed. It returned. Attempt #2. Sealed the entire outer perimeter and that fixed it. Do all you can to repair one. They are expensive to replace with OEM. These style lights are glued together and are very difficult to remove the lens. I have seen only one person that has mastered this and it has to be heated to a temperature to allow the factory glue to release. Until then, you won't get it apart without destroying it. Maybe others have run across his youtube videos. If I can find that saved video I'll post it🙄

I just had my cracked tail light replaced on my 2021 Ranger XLT by my local Ford dealer. Cost was $1800.00 CAD. I paid $500.00 deductible, insurance covered the rest. I asked the tech to give me back the old tail light assembly which he did. The dealer had removed the costly BLIS sensor from the old tail light assembly. So basically they charged $1800 for a tail light lens worth $150- $200, ripping off me and my insurance company. Beware.

How did you remove the connector from the tail light unit? I pulled the red pin upwards and it still won’t disconnect for me

If you have the LED taillights I think you may have to replace the whole assembly.

When you get a new led light do you have to get a new blind spot sensor? I’ve been hearing rumors that you have to buy that blind spot sensor separate, which would cost $1200? I herd?

Only if you don't know how to use MIRRORS! LOL

@rockymntdan1 the blind spot sensor is in tail light , would I have to keep the sensor or get a new one with the light because with the led light would cost less if I get it
@rockymntdan1 Жыл бұрын
@@musclerocker My point is: so what if the sensor doesn't work. As long as your new lights do. Been driving without them just fine for decades.
