How to fix a cut sprinkler line.

In this video I quickly cover how to repair a broken sprinkler line. The process is rather quick and easy with the right tools and replacement parts. Make sure to get the right size barb fitting and hose clamps along with extra irrigation polytubing. I'll leave links below to the tools I used to complete this job.

May I ask where you sourced your internal couplers and tubing from? Everywhere I’ve been wants to sell me 100ft of irrigation tubing when I only need like 2ft at the most.

I have gotten a smaller section of tubing from local hardware stores like true value or ace hardware. They often times are willing to sell by the foot. But sometimes with their pricing it just makes more sense to buy a roll and keep it in the shed.

What's the rule as far as 90° bends are concerned? I've got a cut line, assh*le downspout installers left scraps in the ground, root grew and pushed the tin through the line. The line was bent at almost a 90, I'm wondering if I should dig up more ground and easy the transition.

I have 90 degree elbows and tees throughout my sprinkler system in the lines. And all of the heads are at 90 degrees to the lines as well coming up from the ground. I think you’ll be fine if you use an elbow and not pinch the line.

Would you recommend the same parts / fix for pvc irrigation line? I have a broken line underneath a concrete step and I finally found it after hand digging the area underneath

If it’s pvc you’ll need to grab some pvc glue and couplers to redo the connection not a barb fitting.

The video is somewhat misleading. What about all of the digging and inevitable accidental self harm. What about all of the cursing? There’s so much that’s left out of this video that I can’t recommend it as a realistic irrigation repair video.

Oh that’s a whole different problem, I see the confusion tho. What you’re describing is generally referred to as amateur hour. Trust me I majored in it for years. Unfortunately the only inoculation from this that I’m aware of is “working smarter not harder.” So I’m told anyways.
