Thank you very much!!!!!! Half of the stain I did using the spray bottle, and second part, just wiped with soaked soft clothe. Worked well, the yellow stain was almost not noticeable in 20 mins or so. I didn't put water in the bleach (because the stain was very old). Advice for people who will use the spray bottle, in addition to the plastic cap use a respirator and a swimming googles :)

Worked great......stains gone after 3-4 applications of bleach/water. Rolled on with small paint roller!! Great!!!

After 5 coats of paint I tried this. Went away in less than a minute! Definitely earned my sub

Hi Todd. This works! I just watched this with my husband and we immediately got up, found an old perfume spritzer that my kid no longer uses, emptied it and put in 75% bleach and 25% water. We sprayed the amoeba looking stain and a stain that just looked like death and after one application it is gone! We will wait until they fully dry and reassess. TY so much for this tip, those stains has been bothering me for months! I swear KZfaq is the one stop shop for education on ANYTHING! TY again!

I am going to try this. We are selling our house currently and I have a room with this problem.

I got 3 large brown water stain spots on my ceiling. Wife had left the tap running on the top floor last week but I guess it must have seeped through eventually. Long story short, I used your technique on one of the 3 spots on your ceiling. Only after 30 mins, its mostly gone. I think it will need a 2nd application for it to completely dissapear. I did initially thought about painting my ceiling before watching your video. Anyway I just want to say a big "THANK YOU" to you. Liked and subscribed to your video :D Keep up the good work.

@Todd Konitzer, Thanks for the video! will this work if the stains have already been treated with a stain block...? How would the stains come from "Winter"? I also have a problem with a section of the Artex bulging on the bathroom ceiling over the shower were the joint tape is. Is it possible that these water stains and blown Artex ceiling can be caused by anything else but a water leak from above i.e. high humidity in the bathroom?

So I just bleach water solution and then let it sit for a day and then try it again to see if it’ll lighten it? NO Dabbing just sprayed it let it dry right?

Thank you for the great idea I'm tackling this project tomorrow.I believe I'll also wear safety googles as well. We had a whole new roof put on, and waited quite a while to paint so the surface would be dry. Instead of buying buckets of paint to do the whole ceiling, I'm going to get a jug of bleach and try your method first because the stains are light and the surface is undamaged. if bleach doesn't work, then at least I'll l have a squeaky clean surface to paint later. I live in a condo, and just got water leaks from the upstairs neighbour's unit today. It left water stains on ceiling. Shoud I wait till the water stains are completely dried up? or No need to wait and spay this bleach+water mix now?

Before thoroughly examining how to fix a water leak spot on my ceiling, I decided to colour it first with a matching paint duh... of course it didn’t work. Could I apply bleach/water solution on the spot now? Will it work? Or am I doomed and now have to repaint the entire ceiling? Could someone please advise?

Does this work for paint? I have a couple of spots on my ceiling where I got a little paint on it from painting the walls...grey paint, so there's a contrast on the white ceiling. I really don't want to paint the whole ceiling 😕😟😟

Hi Todd, This would work if the ceiling is a bit damp as well? I'm repairing a apartment, and after my painter painted the ceiling he notice that the ceiling had all these spots all over probably based on water leak from the exterior roof, which has now been repaired.

What about mold? Do you have to open the ceiling to remove drywall and sheetrock that might get moldy?

Todd, does it help or hurt to turn on the ceiling fan. Could reverse the blades to aid in drying time OR just let it dry on its own. Whats the best way?

This looks like a great idea. I have a smooth ceiling but trying to figure out how to reach my ac stains that are 18’ above my den? Instead of spritzing, can I attach a microfiber cloth dampened in a 50/50 solution and attached to a telescopic light bulb remover and simply dab the ceiling or does it have to be spritzed?

I had a dried water stain 50cm by 50cm that I cleaned over with water and bleach, then I wiped off the bleach. I let the stained area dry off and I then painted the over the stain with water based anti stain paint which is white. I'm now going to paint the whole wall in yellow. However, should I paint over the white anti stain paint first with a coat of yellow, let it dry and then paint the wall or is it ok to paint the whole wall in yellow and the small area of white anti stain paint won't show through??

Would this work on an old stain?

I'm going to try this this weekend - I have huge stains from condensation in the room that's leaked into the ceiling - tried painting bits but didn't really hide anything (may have been because it was satin paint instead of matt). I know I need to get bricks put into the roof for ventilation but till I can get that done I need an inbetweener 🙂

I dabbed it on so didn't have the spray going anywhere. Took two applications and...gone!
