What a great find. The latch on my 2007 Civic broke and the dealer quoted $377 to repair it (he planned to replace the entire cover assembly). I went on line and found the latch for $8.66 with free overnight delivery from Amazon. I could not have done the repair without this video. Thanks for saving me $330
@BobPaul6 жыл бұрын
John Hendrie No way! That's insanity!! They carry this latch at my dealership's part window; I'd bet yours does, too. That's some serious stealership behavior quoting to replace the entire lid.

Yeah, I had to watch four or five videos to finally figure out where the spring had to be loaded at put it in and out about five times… Took less than a minute to put it back together. Once I figured out you have to have it in the flat position to put the spring on that shelf. Thank you for the good video.

Man, cannot thank you enough for your selfless effort to show all this, I thought I was going to have to pay the shop 100+ dollars (as they said). Word to the wise: do NOT lean over against this console door sideways with any real pressure, it will crack the little pin bracket/s right off, which is what I did. The thing should be designed better, but of course plastic is king. Anyway, you made it real easy, and cheap! You deserve a six-pack...
@user-ov8nk4jh6w Жыл бұрын
Me too! Thank You. I looked at other videos, they didn’t show the trick about the spring. I wasn’t smart enough to figure that out, so once I finished, there was no spring pressure. Great Job! I sold cars for 36 years, but never worked on them. Honda wants to sell you the entire armrest, like someone said, about $300.

@stevo2156 жыл бұрын
BobPaul it's much appreciated. I only wish I had the same issue. The hinge on my is broken. Facing the hinge, the right loop is broken so I can't house the rod without it falling out. You won't believe how much the armrest cover is after-market.
@BobPaul6 жыл бұрын
stevo215 oh, that sucks. Is it just cracked it is there plastic missing from the loop? If it's just cracked you might be able to repair it with JBWeld or similar. Actually, if there's plastic missing you might still be able to JBWeld a metal washer of the right size to the inside edge of the broken standoff.
@stevo2156 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it cracked and the front half of the loop broke off. I think I put too much force on it and after a while, the stress broke the plastic. That metal washer idea isn't a bad idea. I considered soldering the plastic but it would like just break again. Thanks for the tip.

Question. ..was your latch broken or was it the hinge? From looking at my hinge or latch it seems fine, so could it be the spring in the latch...though, of course, that wasn't the case for you. Just questioning ig it could be the spring which goes in the latch? Thanks for this video because it helps us save money and time. And learn to fix what we can.
