How to Fix Desktop Window Manager (dwm.exe) 100% High GPU Usage/Memory Usage

Desktop Window Manager (dwm.exe) is a compositing window manager that renders all those pretty effects in Windows: transparent windows, live taskbar thumbnails and windows animations. So, it utilizes RAM and GPU. But sometimes it might use up too much RAM & GPU and this can make your PC slow and your might face some lag in the processing.If you do see Desktop Window Manager eating up more RAM or CPU more than you think it should then try out the solutions shown in the video.
Firstly, Update your graphics card drivers. Next Turn off ‘Visual Effects’. Then you can Change personalisation and lastly, you can disable the fast startup feature. Hopefully, one of these solutions will help you fix the Desktop Window Manager High GPU Usage in Windows and make your PC faster.

I don't have an Nvidia driver. I have an Intel driver apparently. Can I still install an old nvidia driver to fix this? The other solutions did not help and the process is constantly taking 1.6 GB of memory

The issue is most probably in the task manager only as games are running just fine for me, it's still weird though

Great.. except you have to sacrifice possibly desired features for most /all of those fixes.. it's not really fixing anything but rather a trade off work around. Seems like Microsoft needs to address the dwm issue cuz it'll hang windows for me on the Intel graphics and GPU (i might need to double check that..), have to end task for dwm in order to clear it. I will check on the drivers but i'm not giving up any visual enhancements 😖

None of those worked for me, and this is just thing folk repeat without knowing if it work or now, like a background image do not use more GPU and a solid color do, so that is never the problem, and when you see the Desktop Window Manager use 100 % GPU this happen in regular interwall, I still do not know why thiss app use so much GPY, but it is not driver related or related to the desktop settings.

I thought for LITREALLY 2 days I had a crypto malware and installed more than 7 antivirus and couldn't fix the issue of 80-100% usage but with a single click on windows hardware acceleration it got fixed.... I just wanna cry (THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE VIDEO)
