I have a question I'm hoping you can answer in a video or a short. They always say not to water during the heat of the day. Is this only because of evaporation, or are the sun's rays magnified through the water, causing the grass to burn? Or are there any other reasons not to other than evaporation?

I have seen many comments on this post and others is the past. I enjoy and learn from your videos. My problem is you don't answer all of us. We are confused, and truly looking for a simple response. Even if its just a word or two. EX...water, fertilizers, chemicals, and or just straight nutrients. Just a response to our comments means everything, every comment. Thanks for all your advice!

I have some dry spots just like yours. I use that stuff called "Soak ORR " and found it to be a very good wetting agent.

Up in Milwaukee. Serious drought here since early spring. We have gotten maybe 3 inches of rain the entire time. No irrigation here. Never thought this would happen but I have to say I love lawncare but it really sucks and is no fun if you dont get any rain and have no irrigation. Would love to know if others are experiencing this. I have pretty much checked out on the lawn care this season. #NoRain

I love your channel. You've taught me a lot. However, can you please do some disaster lawn renos? Videos about making the best of poor timing? It took me 5 years to clear all the trees and rocks. Then it was late fall so I just mowed everything that came up every week and didn't water last year. Now everything is green, but it's grass, clover, crapemyrtles that won't die, ivy and creepers -- and it's July -- past time for preemergent, and seed planting. What do I do? Sincerely slowly getting green in Arkansas.

Yeah, i can always see my bad spots once the sun cooks my yard lol. Dormant bermuda in certain spots due to construction debris still under the ground.

Have a question for you man - I’m about to do a serious Overseed (a lot of area is up for grabs - at least 30-40 percent) I’m doing KBG - a mix of 365ss and quantum leap.. a combo which is low growing and has a respectable germination rate. 4 weeks before seed time I’m using PGR, and I’m using it again day of Overseed. A few days before Overseed I’m scalping this lawn down to 1/2 of an inch. My question: how long can I expect to wait until I mow (3 weeks or more)? AND can I sneak in a mow and mulch 4 days AFTER Overseed just before germination starts so that the seed is definitely getting a solid amount of exposure? Or is mowing 4 days after a fools errand that will hurt the seed? I would use a lightweight reel mower if I did mow btw

Another tip I would add is if it's dry don't mow it, better long and green than short and dead

I've had a problem spot watering. Those areas a few days later turn brown. Was it too hot at that time of day? Or did I not water thoroughly?

I am trying to establish a new lawn. I have a newly built home and have just had the grading process completed. I have put down my seed over the newly graded yard and added fertilizer over the top of it. This was done two weeks ago with a lot of watering. I do have some grass coming up but it is very thin and patchy. I am wondering what mistakes I made? this is very frustrating because there are spots where I see nothing but dirt and no grass at all. What can I do?? Please help!!

Thank you Ryan! Love your channel, and I have a quick question on this video hope you notice: What's the difference between SLS Soil Loosener and SoakORR ? Our calciferous/lime-based soil is quite compacted here in Denver area so want to choose one of these to apply to the whole lawn, while I'm using some dish soap, humic acid, and hydretain to specific dry spots.

Appreciate the support! Soil loosener does a great job of penetrating hard and crusty soil to allow water to soak into it properly. I actually used it today on some spots exactly for this and it's amazing how water starts soaking in like a sponge. SoakORR is more of a traditional wetting agent you would find in the golf world or sports turf world meant to do something similar but also to push the water through the soil profile and also hold it there for a longer period so things don't dry out as fast. There's multiple modes of action in it. So I guess I would say it's longer lasting and soil loosener is for me more of a spot fixer.

They are replacing/adding cable in my neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods. The areas which were dug up, they placed grass seed and netting over to deter the birds. No instructions are given. I'm thinking about replacing their grass seed and netting . Any suggestions ?

The label may tell you if there's any specific recommendations. Usually a few days before and a few days after.

You hit it with the humidity. Seems to be a fine line between watering and humidity. I've had issues in the past with this. Also, have you heard from Brother Ward? I hope he's doing okay! @lawnrebel

Does weed-oriented surfactant act the same as shampoo or wetting agent? Thought I heard that from someone... But dawn is probably cheaper and more readily available

The higher end wetting agents will have multiple ingredients targeted for different things. So as far as that goes the chemistry would be a little different but for hitting a few spots dawn would be fine.

It’s not the surface tension on the lawn or soil. It reduces surface tension of the water that is being sprayed on the lawn.

Hey Ryan and lawn care community. I was hoping for some advice for a heavy clay soil. This year here in Ontario Canada we have had A LOT of rain. Fortunately, my front yard has no issues, because its full sun and i have been able to amend my soil well. My backyard on the other hand is completely soaking wet and even muddy in some areas. Unfortunately, I decided against doing any core aeration this spring as I wanted to see if it would handle the summer, but I didn't expect this much rain and for the lawn to turn into mush. As of right now, I'm thinking about doing some serious aerating and top dressing my backyard with a sand/soil mix in a couple weeks and then letting that sit there for about a month to see if it can help dry the lawn a bit before I do an oversee in September. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
