How To Fix Dyson DC59 V6 motorhead not spinning. Sometimes the electrical contacts inside is covered with dust and needs to be cleaned. This fix is for all Dyson DC59 V6 motor accessories that are not spinning.
I've had this vacuum for over 2 years and absolutely love it, I highly recommend it! I hope this fixes your vacuum so you can continue to use it!

To make the background white, I just used my light (YONGNUO YN-216 5000K light) and shined it against the wall behind me. I made it bright enough so that the color looks white. Thanks for your help on this! I was able to brush off the connectors and get my vacuum working great again. I really appreciate how straightforward and quick you video was. I didn't have to sit through 15 minutes of lead up to the important info. That was great!

I've had mine two years and love it. I was afraid I'd have to spend money on a new one when all the attachments suddenly quit working. This fixed it! There was a bunch of cat/dog hair in the space with the connectors. Thank you so much!

I spent an hour taking the head apart today to get at the motor, in order to check all the wiring and clean out all the dust etc to see if this would fix the beater bar, it didn't. Then I watched your video and spent 5 minutes cleaning the contacts on the dust bin ... now it works!! I wish I had watched your video first, thanks David :-)

Thanks for checking out the video, Anna! Yep, they are expensive... but the one I have is 2 years old now, and Target is selling it for only $250, It was $500 when I bought it, which was CRAZY expensive! My wife really likes it, and asked me to fix it, that's why I made the video =)

My Dyson V6 SV03 is from 2016 (6 years old) and it was still going relatively strong with zero problems till the brush stopped spinning a few days ago. At home, there are three cats and three females with long long hair, too! This Dyson is a lifesaver for me and I use the thing multiple times per day. I thought there was no hope and that all the hair finally killed it, but I followed the steps in your video with alcohol and a q-tip, and voila! The brush is spinning again. Thank you sooo much! Very useful video!

Genius! The connectors behind the dust catching tank were REALLY dirty! The roller started to spin as normal after a good clean. Thank you very much 🙂

You Sir are a Genius. I cleaned the terminals with cotton buds and a tiny drop of cleaner and it worked perfectly unlike following other vids when they were saying it was blocked. Thx again.

My motor head had stopped spinning. I took it to Dyson store and he said it was broken and could sell me a new one for 78or the DC 10 for $125. I am so glad I saw this video as I did everything you said and it works like a charm!! You Tube broadens my Village:).

Thank you for posting this.... I'd followed other videos showing how to clean the motor and the cleaning bar, but ultimately, it was dust on the contacts at the canister end that was indeed causing the problem and not allowing the power from the motor to reach the motor head! Thanks again.... Absolute life-saver!

After nearly throwing this out in frustration i took it apart, cleaned it, put it back together and still the brush wouldn't turn. Thank you for this video that pointed out cleaning the contacts may be the problem - it was and this cleaner has gone from zero to hero in our house!

Bought a broken Motörhead dyson for $40. Headed to the KZfaq and found you. Cleaned the connectors and there you have it. Guy said he called dyson and they told him motors break eeeekkkk. So he got a new and I got a deal. Thank you

We got a new brush roller after Dyson sent the wrong part. They didnt "carry" the brush roller and wanted $149 for a new motor with brush head. A supervisor sent me the new brush roller. It didnt fix the problem, so I found this video. It works! Dyson should have been able to tell me to clean the connections. Good products but their customer service doesnt seem to me to be what it was in the past.

I watched a video before I found yours and it did not work at all. It took 10x longer and required a special screwdriver (again, it didn’t work.) All your video required was a cotton swab. My Dyson is now fixed and I can get back to cleaning my filthy house. Thanks.

I tried what you did and my unit was the same. took me 15 min and also had to clean the spin brush at the end where it comes out. There was a bunch hair built up stopping it from turning easily. Now my unit is working very well. thanks for your tip !

I checked my connectors and they looked clean but I cleaned them anyway and lo and behold the brushes are spinning! So it's a thumbs up from me - thank you!

This worked perfectly. I’m visiting my in laws and the our old v6 Motörhead that we gave them when we upgraded stopped turning. When I was taking it apart, I saw that someone didn’t install the canister properly, cleaned it, reinstalled it properly and it works perfectly.

Omg. I pulled the whole head apart not knowing what the issue was, decided to google and your video was the first that came up. Cleaned the connectors and it works perfectly. Thank you so much. An hour wasted 😂

I loved how straightforward this video is!!! Unfortunately even after cleaning off dirt and blockages, as well as cleaning the electrical ports and stuff, the roller head brush still isn’t working so we have to buy a new one. But will keep this video on hand!

Having a similar problem but the motor spins when we take the roller out, when roller goes back in the whole thing won't spin. I hear the motor engage but seems like the roller is locked. Will see if this is something we can fix ourselves or Dyson customer service can help with.

That worked! At first it didn't work completely, but I had to also clean the connections on the long part in between, even though they didn't seem that dirty. That did the trick. Thanks!

FINALLY - a fix for my V6 where the roller wouldn't spin! Your tip at 2:15 solved my problem! Thanks for not only restoring my sanity, but also for helping me avoid buying a new Dyson. I love my Dyson V6... it's otherwise (from this issue I was having) a total TANK! :)

Thanks for this. My Dyson V6 head stopped spinning and I watched another video showing that I needed to take apart the head which took me ages and still didn’t work. Wish I watched this first, would have saved me so much time and hassle. Thank you.
